What To Do...?

This week has been crazy busy at work *sigh* The kind of crazy where I forget to grab lunch and just work straight till 6.30pm. For someone who keeps shouting that she wants/needs to gain weight this is definitely not the way to accomplish that. I think the better solution would be to just move into Lohi's kitchen...:) abi what do you think? lol

Summer is finally here! My favorite time of the year. Funny how people complain about the cold and the minute it gets warmer they start complaining about the heat. I don't. I welcome the heat...plus I'm just glad to not be layering up in order to keep warm. Dressing up in summer is fun; all the bright colors just automatically put you (or maybe its just me) in a better mood. Speaking of summer outfits, I've been liking harem pants a lot lately...for those times when you don't want to be in a skirt or dress, but its too hot for jeans.

Quick question, what hairstyle is advisable for someone who's going to be swimming weekly? Braids I'm guessing. Do swim caps really keep your hair from getting wet? Or just some of it? Excuse all the questions jare, this is why they say we black folks don't swim lol the prep work that goes into protecting our hair from water is plenty.

         

  or can I just fix a weave <<< and wear a swim cap and be alright? Help a sista out people!!!

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Like there's soo much on your plate/to-do list but not enough time! *sigh* The Lord is my strength! Amen!

Sometimes when I'm walking out of the subway, I always pray please let today not be the day that the person in front of me let's one rip (fart)...lol no for real. Am I the only person who thinks that when walking up the stairs and there are people directly infront of u? Just me? Y'all are lying lol

My co-worker who recently got engaged was telling us how she started having panic attacks after putting together a rough estimate for the wedding lol and initially it was funny but mehn to cough up 30K - 50K in dollars for one weekend, and life will still go on after that weekend o. The couple will pay rent or buy house, pay bills, take vacation, plus maybe the student loans that they've acquired from undergrad or grad school? *sigh* No wonder some grooms frown during the wedding lol it's not easy.

Who's The Mole?

Longtime no speak...I think we can skip the part where I apologize for my absence and tell you I've been busy yadi yadi yada.

I'm alive and well, and you are too - honestly, that's all that matters and is enough for us to be thankful for!

The #Scandal tweets are killing me right now! Can't wait to watch it tomorrow and see what everyone is going crazy about. Shonda Rhimes is gonna have people suing her for emotional distress, and heart failures and all sorts of other things from watching the show. Love it!

The weather in NY is just annoying right now, I mean two days of rain, cold today, slightly warm tomorrow...I can't keep up! I just want stable weather :( is that too much to ask for?

Had a stressful day at work today...it's been a pretty busy week in general and then my computer was sha just not cooperating with me. I just jejely packed my bag and came home - honestly I think I also just didn't want to be there. Been feeling uninspired and unexcited by the work lately...praying for direction and guidance.

Got off work and wished I had something to do. Something fun. You know like dance class, gym (I've never worked out in my life and I'm reminded of how out of shape I am when I try running up two flights of stairs and can't breathe), just anything to help take my mind off my frustration with work. Something exciting to look forward to. So when I got home I decided to take a walk and somehow walked into Modell's (sports store) and bought my first real pair of sneakers and a bathing suit. Is this what quarter-life crisis is like? Or am I just bored and itching for some form of change or excitement now that spring is here?

BlackBerry is the absolute worst! The worst! Why am I still using it? Well, because I don't know what to do with all the people I have on BBM. All the other messenger apps are not the same. This is torture and imprisonment by BB makers. Using BBM to hold people to ransom. *sigh*

Last week someone reached out to me to contribute a write-up to a series on their site. I was shocked at the offer, but happy and nervous. Didn't know what to write about till the night before. The write up got published yesterday and I've gotten really good feedback...so thankful and humbled :)

Memorial weekend is coming and after shouting to My Oga that I don't want this Memorial weekend to meet us in this NY, by hook or by crook I just want to be out of town....so far we have no plans lol. *sigh* I just want a change of scenery so bad! Still thinking of where we can go that's affordable even if its near NY. Open to suggestions o...quick getaway or roadtrip let me know pls.

9 - 5...This Chic Got Hired!!! :)

Hello Me Darlings...

How has everyone's week been? Trust it's been great! Especially for my NY folks with this 70 degrees weather today...AWESOME! Took a walk during lunch today, and for once I went out without a jacket! Spring is here I can feel it! :)

Remember in my previous post when I mentioned that I had good news, but was holding off on sharing...? Yeah, you remember right..ok. Sooo you all know how I've been looking for a full-time job since I graduated in Dec? Well...the good Lord has ended my search with a wonderful job :) Yes! Yes! Me Darlings, your girl got a full-time job with benefits, paid over-time, and all that good stuff. Thank you to each and everyone of you for your prayers, and good wishes. It is a digital ad agency located in NYC, and it's a great launching pad for an entry-level candidate like me...and great team that I get to work with.

So it's Friday and it's the end of week one as an employed/working woman... As my good friend and I say, I am now a CWA member (pronounce as 'Kwa') lol...CWA means CareerWomenAssociation (pls excuse our silliness lol). Anyway, week one was mainly training, and me getting to see what my duties and functions will be...and boy did I freak out for a minute.

You know all those ad banners you see online? Yeah those sometimes annoying ones, I'll be trafficing those ads. What that means is after the creative department have designed the ads, I upload the static ads (these are ads without flash properties, i.e they don't move, more like jst .gif and jpeg pics) and use a software/advertising tool to add a live url or link to these ads and then send them to the publisher to make live/put up in the different placements ( these are yahoo, aolnews, etc whereever u see banner ads). 

The interesting part of this process is that those links contain codes with which we advertising people use in measuring/monitoring our consumers online behaviors  and activites. Like how long you spend on the ads, the websites, where you visit often, and all this info helps us know what ads to send to you and what ads not to :) It's so exciting to see how it all comes to life, and now to be a part of it. I think I'm gonna love it here! 

As a new hire, they take a pic of you and it is displayed on the tv screens around the building; everytime I walk past and see my face it always feels weird, and somewhat unreal...I have a job *sigh* Thank you Lord! If only they had told me the pic wld up I for smile, I look like 5 year old whose Mom left her alone in the middle of the store...huge white eyes and a lost look lol.

So I went out for lunch with the other newbie on my team, she's Asian, and she begins to tell me how she loves my hair and all, so I was like oh its even old and I'm gonna take it out this weekend. You should have seen the look on her face O_O! She was like "huh?! Isn't that your hair?" Lol...I should have kept my mouth shut! So I began a windy explanation about I had extensions in, and I take them out and do a different style and all. Well on one hand it means my hair-lady really did a good job with the fixing, but it also means people are really clueless about blacks and our hair! :) Now my dilemma is, I concerned about the looks I'll get next week when I return to work without my 14inch Remy Saga hair, and all the questions I'll have to answer. But I've really missed my hair...it's been XX hmmm if I tell y'all how long una go run. But everytime I wanna take the weave out someone comments about how nice it is and the stay just kept getting longer #don'tjudgeme jorr!

I really wish I could show you guys pics...the older the hair got the more it looked nice and more like all those expensive human hair! I wish there was a way to get it to look like this faster without having to have it in for as long as I have had it. *sigh* Oh well, my new colleagues will love/like me like that jorr....with or without hair weaves. I'm hoping that working here, I'll be able to make an eclectic mix of friends. I love my Nigerian ppl and all, but I really want to mix with other cultures, nationalities and all. And I wanna do fun stuff now that my weekends are free of schoolwork and catching up on sleep. 

Yesterday after work my good Nigerian friend and a few others just went out for drinks after work :) it was nice to be doing fun stuff as a CWA member u know ;) lol. Pls excuse my excitement and just bear with me.

Oh the day I went to just look at aprtments and found this really nice one not far from my current neighborhood. *sigh* I fell in loveage! (as Lohi will say) Washer and Dryer in the apartment, concierge, gym, movie room, water front views, playgrounds, security, and all that good stuff for within my budget!!!! What's the problem u ask? Well My Mama ooo! Still don't know what to do o. When I showed her the floor plan and all the stuff it had to offer u know what this woman said lol "Ah its by the water, what if Tsunami should come" lol I kid u not! I love that woman to death!!!! And its my putting her first that is making me not able to just up and leave her by herself... I don't want her to be lonely! Our family has had it rough and I dnt want her missing not enjoying the companionship she shd be if things were right and my Dad was here. (he's not dead, just not present).

I can't be her husband, but I worry about leaving her alone. And there's no relations nearby that I can say oh they'll have each other to keep company and all. I know eventually I'll marry and begin my own family, but for now I worry about leaving her. Well, I'm gonna give her a few months to warm up to the idea, take her to the apartment to look at it herself and see why its better than where we currently are at. And if she still insists on staying, I"ll move and find a way of not worrying too much. 

So until then if I keep blogging about this issue please bear with me, I dnt have a therapist and this blog serves as my outlet...and that's why I appreciate each and everyone of you for your stopping by and dropping comments! Muahz!!!

It's 5.21pm and I need to get out of this office and head home! Thanks AnonGA for the email appreciate it!!!

Quit catching feelings!!!

How's everybody doing? Hope y'all had a peaceful and rest-filled weekend. And to my good friend who lost a loved one...I wish I had the words to soothe your hurt, and ease your pain, but I do not. I wanna say take heart, but someone once said how many hearts can you take...
We take solace in the fact that He who knows all and sees all, knows best. So I pray that in this time of pain, hurt n' mourning when you feel like you can't go on...that He will lift you and your family up, and carry you.IJN, Amen. Luff u!!!

My people wats gud? Everytime I want to update, I keep putting it off till when "I can type a coherent post", well let's face it if I wait for that time, I myt as well never post.

So I was Twitter, and I noticed a lot of you were on there, like a mini blogsville. And now I knw hw ppl always get first on blogs...lol...its cos they get the alerts on twitter from the blogger...dats ojoro oo! Neways, I dnt knw wat it is, but the addiction bug has refused to bite me. I follow ppl and I find some tweets interesting, but for me to tweet na wahala, I only have 54 tweets. Well, make we dey look.

This recession and holiday period is causing trouble o; there's been an increase in robberies, and fraud lately...and so am just begging God to spare me o. Cos the amount of fraudulent checks that we've been seeing on the job have just been on the rise. A branch close to mine got robbed few weeks ago. Dunno wat I'll do if I had a gun pointed at me, pray never to experience such.

On a lighter note, mke una cme hear story. So few days ago we discovered that a customer was making a check deposit for 55bucks, but the teller who filled the deposit slip mistakenly filled it for 5,500. This happened a while back, but it was jst caught. So, the man comes in and the Manager asks what he did with the money. Dude says, he ddn't knw about it, that his wife saw the money and was mad that he had such an amount and lied to her; so she withdrew half of it. Lol...na lie o. Dem don spend the money finish...now its time to pay it back. So people if you mistakenly had an excess deposited in ur acct. what would you do?

I saw Law Abiding Citizen during the week, and I loved it. Really, good movie. Jamie Foxx has done well for himself by having very marketable skills. When the music scene isn't as hot, he has his acting to fall back on, and he's pretty good. Nice job J!

Why don't some boys get the message sometimes. If a chic has said she's not interested, move on. If she was interested and just fronting u'll knw cos she'll give u the signs...but when there are no signs just good ol' platonic friendship responses then you shd stop catching feelings and get wiv d programme. Catching too much feelings after u've been told that it ain't gonna happen becomes irritating and annoying biko.

Aiight let me go and continue working on my class project.

How's everybody doing? Hope ur week has been productive, positive, and stress free? The weekend is around the corner once again...I can hear everyone breathing a sigh of relief...lol.
I no blame una o jare.

So my people una do well for all the questions when una don submit o! I been think say I go need to carry gong waka round the whole of blogsville like town-crier b4 una go ask question; but the response from una don save me such waka waka. On the real tho', y'all dnt play...lol...I was reading through the questions and e be like say na JAMB I wan write. Looking forward to answering all your questions people...and if u still wanna ask, pls feel free.

On a random note, biko why do people wait till last minute to come to the bank. Dey knw the bank closes @ 6pm, but wait till 5.50pm to come and want to ask questions about their account and chitchat with the Personal Banker. For crying out loud, I wanna go home! And I have to catch my bus orelse, I'll be sitting at the bus-stop starring at people zooming by in their cars, and dats not fun especially in the winter!

Also, please dnt get mad if u come to cash a cheque and don't have proper identification. U coming into the bank every friday to cash a cheque dsn't mean I know u. The system gives options for acceptable form of ID, am not gonna make an exception and lose my job just bcos am tryna do u a favor, if u haven't heard, we are in a recession!

Am sorry, that you have to pay an over-draft fee. But I don't make the rules nor do I have the power to bend them. All it takes is for you to try and stay updated on your account...dnt spend what you don't have, please and spare us all the trouble. And when you make a deposit, the reason I give you a receipt is to show you that it went into YOUR account, not mine. So biko no dey ask me twenty times, are you sure it went into my acct? And be looking at me and smiling doubtfully, like say I use wuru wuru wayo put am for my account. I take God beg u I no be thief...as u dey hustle na so I dey hustle na e mke u meet for here dey work.

On another random note, this Octo-Mom is jst something else. During a special they did on her and her kids, she was dissing Kate Gosselin (Jon & Kate Plus 8) for showing off her bikini body. Criticizing for under-going plastic surgery after having her sextuplets. She went on to say she (Octo-Mom) lost her baby weight by exercise and eating right...yeah right! Am sorry, but me I dnt believe that. Bad bele no good sha.

On a final random note, My Mom and I went grocery shopping @ our neighborhood ShopRite, so after shopping, we began to load things into the trunk; next thing, some dude walks up to me, and hands me a Christian book titled....wait for it...wait for it..."60 Things God Said about Sex". really? Of all the books, when u carry na this one u come decide to give me abi? Thank u o...God bless u.

PPS: My friend is having a house warming party in the city on Sat., "no go fit invite una come my party mke una no shayo oo, shayo don dey holo, everybody dey kolo, all of una must shayo ooo!" It's goin' down! School starts on Monday, so this is kinda like my summer wrap up...lol.
