25 and Thankful

...July is usually my favorite month of the year for the obvious reason that it is my birthday month. Soo much has been going on and I just haven't had time to take a minute to put a post together...sorry guys. But I've been reading all your posts from time to time.

So what have I been up to this month? I'll sum it up in two parts.

I turned the big 25 on the 7th! Yup, I'm officially getting old-er! Chai. 7th was a Saturday, and I had a party with a fellow friend and exact birthday mate down to the year. We have pretty much the same circle of friends, so we decided to throw a party together. It wasn't a roof-top venue as I wanted, but it was a party filled with people I love, who love me and make me happy in their own way. And that was enough for me. Felt like a princess too; hair done, nails done, make up by a pro and alla that lol I was feeling like a million bucks shaa. No wonder celebs get hyped from all that attention.

Funny thing is I woke up that day and it's like I'm 25 now what? Am I supposed to have an automatic aha-moment? Mind-blowing revelation? Well if I was supposed to I didn't. I still don't feel a day over 21, 18 sef...lol I still get carded at the movie theatre! But what I do know is that every life experience, every mistake, every achievement - big or small, every waking second of my life and the unending grace of God has brought me to where I am now; and made me who I am. I hope to do better, and be better with each day moving forward...and I am grateful.

The other thing that has kinda, sorta occupied my time is... *drum-roll please*

Him & I
Le partner/boo/lover/boyfie is here! My LDR days are over. An early birthday present you can call it. Some of you might remember few months ago I was praying and wanting something so bad, well it all worked out and thanks to God he is here...not to visit, but to stay :) This is all new to me, and there's a lot of adjusting that's taking place. Me having to learn to share my space and not be overly independent and head-strong...Him having to understand me in my own space (not the me in Nigeria on vacation), understand life here in the US, and us finally getting to learn and understand what its like to live together, be together. No BBM, skype and phone convos anymore...it's face to face now. When we argue we can't just ignore bbms, we have to confront the situation, talk it out, yell it out, then talk it out again lol

It's a whole new experience. But like I said I wasn't sure what to expect with this move. Would I be jumping off couches like Tom Cruise, or cheesing endlessly like a high school teenager? I still don't know...what I do know is it is nice to come home to hugs, to be cuddled to sleep, to not have to load call cards or use Rebtel, to not be mad that skype sessions were ruined thanks to shitty Naija connection. Its nice to make plans, to argue face to face and make up, take walks holding hands, do Sunday brunch... you get the drift. It's not easy there are great days, okay days and blehh days but at least we share them next to each other.

I'm learning too. To work on my anger, and my attitude when I'm mad. The other day we argued and I was about leaving the house and he said " don't I get a goodbye kiss?" I was shocked...like I'm mad at you, and you're mad too how am I supposed to kiss you? What I learned was that yes we were both not happy about something, but it didn't have to be all sour... the kiss lightened the mood but what I appreciated the most was him being the bigger person, making the effort to resolve the situation and not make it escalate. After the kiss, we ended up really talking and laughing about what got us both mad and I left the house feeling sooo much better.

I'm thankful for the opportunity to learn, grow, love and be loved!

Hope everyone is doing great! It's almost Friday people, hang in there!

My Favorite Season

Hi Guys,

Long time no blog! I apologize, life has just been moving so fast that I find it hard to keep up at times...but I've been reading all your posts and updates. I just haven't had enough time to sit down and compose one of my own.

Summer begins today! Woohoo! Summer's my favorite time of the year! Sandals, summer dresses, sunglasses, beach, outdoor shows/events, BBQs, *sigh* these are a few of my favorite things! Hence why Summer is my favorite time of the year. The heat came in full-force today in NYC...94degrees, feeling more like 100 ain't no joke, and I ain't complaining :) I need the Vitamin D.

My b'day is about 2weeks away! Another reason why I love this time of the year. It's my day, and I get to have friends all around me, having a good time. I'm always so happy when I'm surrounded by friends, acquaintances and everyone is having a good time...it makes me happy when my peoples are happy, yes, peoples lol. What do I have planned for they day? Trying to do a roof-top party kinda thing, but finding a roof-top venue in NYC that'll allow me have my own DJ na wahala...but we'll see how it goes. Last, last we'll all just pack inside someone's house and party don start be that. See the beautiful thing about my peoples is that it doesn't matter where we are, we ARE the party, so as long as we are all together and gbedu dey, everything's good. Will gist y'all how it goes sha.

Anyh

This year, its the big 2-5! I don dey old shaa. *sigh* But I can still pass for a 16/17 yr old :) I gerrit from my mama. I'm thankful for life. My big b'day present for this year is arriving a week before my b'day :) Hint: When I hug my present, my present hugs me back...unlike my pillow. And my present gives kisses, really good kisses! :) That's all I'm giving away.
Ehen! my dear readers where can I find a banging, correct foinnne dress to buy in thi NY? I don't wanna buy a dress that on that day I'll see three people wearing the same thing...and my close friends have banned me from wearing my default style of cloth which is skirt and blouse lol x_x pls help a sister out!

"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve; the fear of failure" - The Alchemist (Paulo Coehlo - love his quotes!)

I worry about failing, but I also worry about not trying, not knowing, and then looking back years, years from now and regretting not doing, not trying. But its so hard to take that first step, especially with the world watching, waiting to judge...both fairly and harshly. To pull you down and laugh as you fall, or be amazed as you rise and then want to be a part of your success. Lord give me the strength, courage and wisdom to start and to keep moving. Because I don't want to be a weisst lol,

I just read this old post on Myne's blog Visa lottery, moving to the US and moving back to Nigeria, and it just reminded me that I have a few thoughts about it but post for another day.

Have a great day everyone! Hang in there the weekend is almost here!

Thirsty Tuesdays II

Y'ello

How's everyone's week going so far? Hope great! So it's a bit slow here on the 9 - 5 so I decided to quickly crank out a post before I succumb to laziness and not update le blog. :)

I can't believe February is over! I mean it was just Valentine's day two days ago...no? Wow...time is going by fast sha.

Over the weekend it was a friend's birthday, and her closest friends organized a surprise b'day party! *sigh* I love surprises...and a surprise party would be nice. Just knowing that people took out time, funds and effort to organize something really nice for you is a great feeling. To be loved, is a great feeling.

So, even though my b'day is 4 months away it got me thinking, what am I doing for my b'day this year...I mean after-all it is the "Big 25!" *sigh* I am getting old! (But, I don't look it, did I tell y'all I got carded at the movie theatre about 3weeks ago) Anyways, my friends say it's gonna be hard to top my last b'day on the Party Bus (catch up here), which everyone agrees was the best party of the year!! I was sooo happy that day! Well so far the options we're playing around with are; a destination party, roof-top themed party, boat cruise party. The themed party is my favorite/most reasonably priced for now :) Time will tell...

Still on birthdays...it's my friend's 23rd this coming weekend. I don't know what to get her! I need suggestions PLEASE! Like I'm totally clueless! Like I can't think of something that she's really crazy about...or something that she likes to collect. This is hard! :(

Stilllll on birthdays...(this is the last I promise!) it's my Mom's birthday in about 3 weeks...no clue as to what to get her either. What do you get someone who doesn't know how to do for herself, but just gives, gives, gives...my Mom gets more happiness from making sure others are happy. I'm not kidding you! I want to get her a spa date, but getting her to actually gooo to the spa na wahala! Mommie is gonna be 60! Lord please loooong life and good health for her! Amen.

What would you do if you found yourself in love with your best-friend's fiance who initially was your casual platonic friend first, before he/she started dating your best-friend?

I watched the movie Something Borrowed over the weekend, and that was the story...and some of us were conflicted on the issue. Do you lose your friend of since primary school/high school/college over a guy? Or do you pick your friendship over a guy who could possibly be "the one" (Note that by "the one" I believe that we can be compatible with more than one person, but what if this guy is your 95% match, and every other guy would probably be 70 - 80% match...hope this makes sense?)  What would you do?

On last week's episode of Private Practice, Jake Reilly told Allison Montgomery  (and I'm paraphrasing)...When I'm in a relationship, I go all in. No buts, what ifs or maybe. I've been there, done that and I'm done playing games because I know what love is, and I know how it feels to lose it. I'm a good man, but you're not ready for what I have to offer. You say you want me, but you're still pinning after another man...and until you're ready for all of this and me, I'm not going to have sex with you or become an item with you.

...This just got me wondering, sometimes people say I want to be in a relationship, I want a man, I want a girl-friend, but are we really ready for what commitment entails? In Allison's case, its the fact that she's still stuck on her ex, but at the same time sees a good guy that she wants. For other people it could just be being mentally ready to share your life with another. It's no longer me, me, me...are you ready for 'us'? Are you financially ready to handle 'us'? Even spiritually, when you pray or you're trying to do better in your faith you can't just focus on you alone, you intercede on the other person's behalf too...'us'? Career growth you have to carry each other along regardless of the different paths you're on, you need to support, encourage and motivate each other...'us'? Personal interests and past times; sure watching Soccer isn't your thing but it's his so you find a way to either like it or just respect it (Eg #TeamArsenal by boyfriend lol)...no selfishness...'us'?

So yeah you get my point...it's great to have a man/woman and to be in a relationship, but are you really ready for #TeamUs? If you are not, I say enjoy singledom...enjoy your space...enjoy not having to check in with anyone...and when you are ready, then you can join TeamUs. Hope this makes this sha.

Let me know your thoughts guys...

Have a great week guys!!!

Thirsty Tuesdays

Hello Darlings!

Happy New Week! Hope everyone is having a great day so far.

Thank you for all your kind words on my last post about Our Anniversary. I appreciate!

I had a really good weekend, I got to hangout with my entire family of friends on Saturday for a friend's birthday dinner and after-party. It was the first time I was out partying this year and I had a good time. But came down with a cold the next day. Thank God Monday was a holiday, so I stayed indoors recuperating and sneezing like a sneeze machine. *sigh*

So on my way out on Saturday, at the very last minute I decided to change my outfit because it was too predictable for me. Simple black dress, with a red blazer and red lip-stick and this year, I've sworn to step out my comfort zone a lil' bit and try new things. So I switched to denim shirt, short black flared skirt... only to get to the dinner and my really close friend/sister from another Mother arrives in a black dress and red blazer!!! I'm like this is why we are friends, our dress styles are sooo similar simply and nice but too darn predictable lol so glad I changed my mind last minute. Even in Naij during Christmas hols we ended up wearing the same outfit, same colors out one day and it was totally unplanned! *sigh* lol

Now I understand why some people prefer to not date within their circle of friends. It's not easy to see a babe you once liked, still like talking to other guys and you have to pretend like you don't notice, or that everything's great and you are not inwardly pained lol. Or when the guy you like, once liked, or your ex is chatting up another girl, and you have to pretend like the party is ohh soo great! And your having the time of your life when you really are not lol. The woes of dating...it ain't easy, but we all get over it with time.

Its funny how most times, people are able to give reasonable, level-headed relationship advice to their friends, co-workers etc, but when they find themselves in similar situations, they find it hard to apply what they've recommended to others. Most cases they know what action they shd take or what needs to be said/done but find it hard to actually do it. Matters of the heart can be paralyzing at times.

How old is too old to date? What's your limit?

Would you date someone whom you don't have any likes/fun-activities in common? And what's the one thing

The weather in NY this week is divine! 60 degrees in February?!?! Thank you Lord! Speaking of this city, have I told you all how ard it is to find a decent apartment on a budget? Chai! Odikwa very hard! But I'll find one in due time! Amen.

I just discovered Godiva Milk Chocolate...love it!!!

Aiight that's it folks! Have a great day everyone!

PS: The post title has nothing to do with the post lol I just didn't know what else to call it and I didn't want to call it Random :)

Day #7: My 5 Pet Peeves...Happy Birthday to Me!

Hello Me Darlings!

Happy 24th to me :) Yes, yes I am that old! *sigh* but for the most part I feel younger. There are moments I feel 16, 21 etc :) I'm grateful for today! Somehow before the day I always feel like I'm not as excited about it, and then as it draws closer the excitement builds. Even during the years when I didn't have a party or celebration I still find myself excited on my birthday!
I think my birthday is the coolest thing about me...cos of the date :) 07/07/87...as innn perfection toh bahd! The Lord took his time and created me :) So I'm special!

My phone's been going off since midnight! I knw sme ppl dnt dig the whole ppl changing their statuses for you and all, but I find it humbling and it makes me smile. To look at ur bbm updates and 3/4 of the pics are pics of me?! C'mon a girl's gotta feel special :)
I love presents but none so far there better be something in the mail!

Can't wait till tomorrow to kick off the fun weekend! I'm just excited to see how the whole party bus works out smh it's gonna be a mess!

Thankful to the Lord for howfar I've come this past 24years. Dang! :) Thank you for your GRACE!!! I owe all that I am to you Father, ALL that I am.

Now on to today's 30 Day challenge...7 Pet Peeves!

- SPITTING IN PUBLIC: I've blogged about this before; I don't understand why people have to spit and then deposit their nonsense in plain open sight. Why can't you do it in a paper towel and put it in the garbage! Why do I have to be playing hop-scotch when I walk because I'm tryna avoid stepping on phlegm, sputum etc Like I'm in a freaking land-mine dodging bombs! It's all sorts of gross!!!

- WHITE UNDERWEAR: Except you're blind, I think every normal person knows that white or multi-colored underwear underneath white pants, skirts etc is big FAT NO! Thongs, black pants and even bikers shorts still exist so why any one would put their underwear on display I don't know! Also for tights too. Yes your tights are black but you know butt area stretches and makes your panties visible, so please ensure to wear a top that covers ur butt! I just find it tacky and ghetto! Please desist!

- DISHES/SINK: I don't like when people finish eating and leave leftovers in their plates and then put the plate in the sink! Can u please scrap whatever food is in your plate into the garbage before putting the plate into the sink. And I dnt like when plates in the sink are pilled unevenly. Yes, I knw they are dirty dishes but it dsnt mean the sink shd look so disorganized that I dnt want to put my hand in it to do the dishes. Please put falt plates at the bottom bowls on top and cutlery inside the bowl so that way even though the dishes aren't done the sink isn't an eye-sore.

- SMOKING: So I don't like the act of smoking, yes I've tried it out of curiosity but I just couldn't understand why people did it. Neways, if you choose to smoke all I ask is that you do not do it near me! The worst case is people who smoke while waiting for the bus. You know the bus is gonna be here any minute now, you light up and puff and then bring all that smoke with you on the freaking bus! Y must I kill my lungs with you? Y must I sit and marinate in smoke for the duration of that bus ride? Why? Please smoke in a corner and freshen up before coming close to me, please. Thank you!

- COCO-POPS: I don't like when guys don't get a hair-cut and begin to develop coco-pops. It's just unattractive. I love that fresh cut with the waves in it...but there are waves and then there's over doing it sha.

- SLURP: I can't stand when people make that 'slurping' sound when drinking hot tea, coffee etc. I just can't...lol

- DIRT/DISORGANIZATION: I don't like clutter, dirty environments and just unnecessary untidiness. Things don't have to be perfectly arranged and color coordinated no, I don't have that kind of OCD but just neat and tidy.

So yeah this post is about 5days late *sigh* longggg story will tell you guys how the birthday weekend went maybe tomorrow :)

Have a great day.

Day #6: I Think Today's Music Is...

Hello Me Darlings,

I'm happy for this blogging challenge 'cos it has forced/gotten me to blog by force :) Thanks for the comments...but yeah that's honestly how I feel about the ex. No regrets. Just lesson's learned. :)

Moving on, today's post asks what my views are on Today's Mainstream music. I'm not a music critic, and I'm not one of those people who updates their music player/collection regularly. My latest addition to my music collection are SuperStar by Wizkid and 4 by Beyonce.

I listen to a lot of Nigerian music and the usual ermm popular American songs on the radio. The Nigerian industry has grown in leaps, but there are still bounds of improvement to be made. I think creatively the artists are not pushing themselves enough, and I honestly don't know if this is the fault of the artists or we the listeners who seem to like the cheesy, cut and paste kind of songs and are not as receptive towards diversity.

If we plan on going international which I believe we do with the whole Kanye signing Don Jazzy and D'Banj...I strongly believe we have to up our game even higher. From the music, to production, to video concepts and even the over way and manner with which we handle our business. That "naija business mentality" of unprofessionalism will not carry us far internationally. Tardiness, in ability to put together a decent press release, handle crisis, media presence and carriage etc... these little things matter, because it's all in the details.

Also, there's sooo much talent out there. But we are all sleeping on them...even the well established acts should begin to find ways to structure the industry and offer opportunities to these talented unknowns. It can be a win-win for everyone if properly managed.

I'm just glad that the industry has grown and continues to grow...I mean now a DJ can DJ an event and play Nigerian songs from start to finish without running out of songs! :)

In other more important news! It's my birthday tomorrow! July 7th 07/07 Perfection toh bad! :) I'm excited for this weekend, I'm happy and somewhat sad about certain things. But I've told myself my birthday doesn't come everyday so I'm gonna suppress the sad thoughts and focus on the good and just bask in it and then handle the other stuff later.
I'm getting old, next thing I'll be having quarter life crisis lol smh.

Neways gotta run and go get my hair done! Thank you to everyone again, especially the new followers!!! :* Kisses!!!!

Day #5: My Ex Should Know That...

Hi Me Darlings,

So I fell off track with my 30 Day blogging challenge, but I'm not quitting! I had a crazy 4th of July weekend; ended up not going to Orlando. Flight issues. Felt so miserable at the airport, after waiting for 7hours only to be told oh, the flight is fully booked and you can't get on! *sigh* I broke down in tears, I guess it was all the frustration from other stuff. So instead of going home to be alone, depressed and sulking I took a cab to my friends place in Jersey City...and I had an awesome weekend with friends. Chillin', shopping for things for their apartment, movies (Transformers 3...loved it), fireworks, and I cooked for the bunch of us a couple of times! I don't get a chance to cook for people and entertain, it was nice to cook, have people eat and just be happy! Looking forward to spending my b'day weekend (this weekend) with 'em again. Finally decided on what to do. :)
No we are not going out to dinner.
No I am not having a house party.
No we are not hitting the club.
We are bringing the club with us anywhere we decide to go :) ....Party-bus!!

I wanted something different, and this is def different...we've never done this before. Will let you know how it goes!
PS: The bus we booked has 2 stripper poles lol...that is all! I'm getting old and getting to the age where certain things I can't be doing as often, so I'm gonna enjoy this birthday and have a good time.

Now on to my 30 Day Challenge: Things I Want To Say An Ex:

Here's the thing, I don't have a handful of exes. I honestly would say I have only one. This is because my rships have been long, and by long I mean at least 2yrs. And I began dating at about 17/18 so I've only had 2 rships since then. So that being said there's only one ex, and honestly I'm not sure what I would wanna say to him at this point but I'll try sha...

- First off, I'm sorry for the way things ended. There's never a happy ending or a fun way to  handle a break-up but I'm sure I could have broken the news to you in a better way. It was my first break-up, and I cared for you so much that I too couldn't believe it was happening, couldn't fully wrap my head around how and why all of a sudden I wanted out. I wish we had maybe talked it out more, I don't know if that would have helped tho.

I think it would have helped, because I would have figured out the real reason why I wanted out...and I would have (maybe) given it more thought before entering into another relationship, because I would have been aware of certain things that I wasn't aware of earlier on in this rship.

I don't regret breaking up with you, it was def bound to happen at some point. Your life-style was wrong, regardless of how much I tried to justify why you did what you did, it was wrong. And me helping you out with was even worse *sigh*

I also wish we still talked or at least say hi, but people say its selfish for the one who ended the relationship to always expect to still be friends or watever...but some form of cordial communication would be nice because I shared certain memories with you that nobody else would understand but oh well..it is what it is right?

Neways, I hope you're doing good. I'm doing great! Life has it's ups and downs, but I think I've done good thus far. :) Wish you the very, very best! Ciao!

How Do You Let Go...

Hello Me Darlings,

Hope everyone is doing great! Everytime I want to update, I start and mid-way give up *sigh* I'm going to make sure I finish and POST this time. The past few weeks have been emotionally draining for me. You know when you want something sooo bad, but can't have it due to diff factors that just aren't properly aligned. And everytime I try to let go of the situation I'm completely reminded of why I want this 'thing' so bad and I'm dragged further down into a depressed, unhappy and then angry state of mind. So on Sunday the sermon was about having hope, and just leaving our problems at the feet of the Lord and not going out the church with them...easier said than done if you ask me.

Like seriously guys how do you let go of a situation and not worry about it? I guess that's the daily challenge/battle that I have to ask God to help me with. Please pray for the spirit of patience, wisdom and reciprocation for me...Thanks!

- I love my job and my team, but the other day I was learning something and then I missed a step and freaked out! Smh...I kept saying to myself this chic teaching me must think I'm a special ed student, I promise I'm not. Oh well, I'm getting a hang of it slowly. :)

- It funny how sometimes when you begin to second doubt yourself and your abilities, people come out of no way to acknowledge and commend what you do :). It's like a perfectly timed hug! I've mentioned a few times that I do PR as a side gig...I just got a new client and she's good. And I got offered to help out with PR for a big upcoming event, God willing everything goes well. And I also just got offered another regular gig where my voice will be heard :). I'm bursting with excitement, but above all I am humbled that people notice and appreciate what I do. It means a lot to me.

- So when I look at all the good things that are happening, I can't help but relax a little and just say to myself if He's sending all this good stuff my way He def has a plan for me a plan of good and not of evil...that will prosper me. So I really should just relax, take the back seat and let Him drive. God's been faithful! I can't deny that.

- It was the Boyfie's birthday earlier on this week :) I think I was more excited about it than he was lol. I got someone to deliver cake to him @ work. Babie was all smiles, and just knowing that it made his day made me happy :). I miss him much! But we've got lots of work to do, this distance has got to go soon...Amen!

- I hate the fact that I have to walk down a hill to catch the bus to work...because it discourages me from wearing heels when the weather gets really nice. I mean its not like stilettos, just wedge heels.

- So Memorial weekend is around the corner...and I think I might be going to the Hampton's with a group of friends :) excited to just take a break.

- I need shopping sites/store suggestions...aside from the usual F21, H&M, Charlotte Russe, American Apparel, Zara...wat other stores are there...that carry nice stuff and any stores for petite people :)

- Does anybody know a good Bible app or devotional. Thanks.

Well, there you have it, a post! I have a meeting in a few mins and I have succeeded in typing up a post. Excuse the random nature but if I try to make it coherent and all I'll end up never posting. Excuse any grammatical errors too. Have an awesome day, and a wonderful weekend ahead!

Love you all bunches!

A Year Older

Happy Birthday to Me. My Dear Blogfam join me in thanking the Almighty Father for another year, and another opportunity to continue to learn and grow. Thank you Lord for life!

So, today I'm a year older and for once I'm beginning to actually feel older. I remember when I turned 18 I thought I had responsibilities then...lol..then I entered my twenties and thought 21 was awesome but now even that is beginning to seem like a distant memory...smh. A while back I was getting ready for work and my Mom said "My daughter is now a woman"...It was like she had just had an "Aha" moment or coming to terms with the fact that her baby is not a baby anymore *sigh*

All in all, I am grateful for my life and for the people in it. I am also grateful for the people who have walked through my life... It's about 4.40am and the messages are still coming in...the calls from family members and loved ones a reminder that I matter, and I am loved. Honestly, I can't even complain about anything... All I can say is that He has been merciful and faithful towards me.
Few hours ago I was moody and just totally low in spirit but now I refuse to spend my day wallowing in unnecessary moodiness!!! I have no plans to party or anything, did enuff this past weekend, but I'm gonna be a cheerful, happy-camper today because it is my day and it happens only once in a year. I am excited an anxious for the remaining half of the year and what is to come.

I am too happy and hot ( the heat na die oo) to type a coherent post. The heat is on another level...chei! All of us in my apartment are sleeping in birthday suits oo. When u step out it's like u r on the grill...I respect awon construction workers and fire-fighters who wear heavy clothing to work in such heat. I almost want to join the little kids playing in the open fire hydrant...it looks sooo refreshing!

Aiight people...please stay hydrated biko nu. Its not only old people and children that suffer from heat exhaustion. Even animals are dying from it. Have a lovely day, and erm don't forget that voting has started for NIGERIAN BLOG AWARDS!!!!

...Happy B'day!!!...

Today, you add another year to your life
As you grow older, may you grow wiser
May your walk with Him continue to blossom
May your steps be ordered
Let His word be a light unto your path
Sickness and tragedy will never know you by name
Negativity and failure will never find you
He will bless you and enlarge your territory

May He go before you to lead you
Under you to uplift you
Beside you to guide you
Behind you to protect you
Above you to bless you
Amen!

Another birthday, another milestone
I pray for more years...
To see your face
To hear your voice and have butterflies in my tummy
To sit n' stare at you and wonder how I got so lucky
To give you the 'the look' when you've had enuff beer
To ask you your opinion on things and make decisions wiv u
To be fed by you...promise not to bite ur finger...NOT!
To sit and watch Arsenal matches...things I do for you
To continue solving crossword puzzles...(I still dnt understnd Sudoku, u hve to explain it again)
To have ur ever listening ear, strong shoulders and encouraging attitude
To have my very own personal clown, always makin me laugh
To have your smile, your touch, your kisses n' gud lovin'

...I could go on n' on, but I want more years of your love, and you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABIE...LOVE YOU!

MJ's contribution to Commercial Sex Workers

Hi Blogsville Residents...

Ke kwanu?(I'm not Ibo...lol, my closest friends are). The weekend is here once again, and for my fellow Yankee people, this is a big holiday weekend for us. It's July 4th...Independence Day; BBQ's, get togethers, family re-unions, loads of food, music, laughter and fun! As for me, I'm probably gonna go see the movie Hangover and just chill as usual.

Four more days to my b'day, and I've decided not to do anything; I'm actually going to be at work so that'll keep me busy. Last year being the big 21, I went all out with a SATC kinda theme. Weekend at a four star hotel downtown, shopping, clubbing, Limo ride to dinner by the Pier, with a view of the Brooklyn bridge...yup yup it was the perfect New-York experience. Alot has happened between then and now, and am so grateful for the journey. So, this year will just be a day of thanksgiving because that's the mood I'm in at present.

ML and I have been discussing the death of MJ, and we both have different opinions on the dude. He's of the opinion that MJ had his priorities screwed, and cannot understand my feelings of empathy towards him (MJ). In the course of our discussion, ML sent me this link from Vanguard Newspaper; my people of blogsville, when I read it LWKMD!!!! Please read this:
Commercial sex workers in Nigeria hold service of songs for Michael Jackson

Commercial sex workers in PH hold service of songs for Micheal Jackson

By George Onah
Some commercial sex workers in Port Harcourt, NIgeria have planned “a service of songs” for pop idol Michael Jackson, to display their heartfelt grief “for a musician whose music always attracts customers to us when we dance”.

In a statement, with a letterhead of “Employers and commercial sex workers association of Nigeria”, made available to Vanguard in Port Harcourt, Wednesday, the group said the association had been “short-changed by death for taking away a great contributor to the industry”.

Written in very poor English with occasional flashes of vernacular, the statement jointly signed by Sarafina Johnson and Lovina George, president and secretary respectively, said “death has thief (sic) our great singer, dancer and oga of costume (sic)”.

The association which has its headquarters in a three-star hotel (names withheld), GRA Phase 2 Port Harcourt, disclosed that “a service of songs would be held on Saturday July 4th 2009 at 9 p.m. prompt”, at the hotel and all their branches in Port Harcourt, Calabar, Uyo and Owerri”.

Accordingly, the commercial sex workers want “all our customers and lovers of Michael Jackson to light a candle and be dressed in black dress (sic) (for ladies) and black suit or native wears (for men) and assemble at the various locations as directed by their zonal leaders”.

Further to this, the association appealed to members to “make sure black coloured clothes, head tie, cap, shoes or black bag form part of your dressing every day until our loving man is buried in the place of his choice”.

In what appeared like a dirge for the pop icon, the group said “Oh Michael why have you left so soon when we have just started liking you (sic); Oh Michael you have disappointed death and death has disappointed us all because you are not dead because you will sing forever”.

I just wonder where they come up with such names as Sarafina Johnson and Lovina George; then they actually have zonal leaders??? Wonders will never end oo...lol.

Have a great weekend guys!!!

Symptoms of Old-age???

Hello Blogsville...
How's everybody doing? The week is slowly rounding up; and it seems like its been a very long week with the events that unfolded from the week before and so on. I've been wanting to blog but jst lacked the drive, and also couldn't decide on what to blog about. But all through, one thing has been on my mind. I know a lot of people have blogged 'bout MJ's death and the media is still squeezing out every possible juice from the story so I really dnt wanna bore u, but I jst wnt to share why my heart goes out to him (MJ), and his family.

MJ was a great performer, artiste and entertainer no doubt about that. But it is the lonely and lost boy within the body of a man that I feel sad for. To me he always looked lonely, and sort of misunderstood; and also, like he never fitted in, just in a class of his own. IMO, the one place where he looked most comfortable and sure of himself, was on stage. Other than that, at interviews he looked so vulnerable, soft spoken, and shy.

I dnt wanna ramble any further, but for the boy who never grew up, who never really had a normal childhood, who didn't like being called names, whose source of comfort were his work and his children; that's the MJ whom I cried for. Lol...yes I cried and am not ashamed to say it. I know the guy wasn't perfect and all, but... oh well may his gentle soul and the souls of all the departed RIP.

...It's the month of July, and normally this is like my fav. month bcos its my b'day month. And normally whether am doing anything or not am usually hyper; but this time around I've been feeling quite mellow. Is this a sign of old-age? When b'days become just another day in the year, and I start feeling like the clock is ticking? My girls been asking if I have anything planned but my brain is just blank. I dnt know o jare...make we dey look sha. Am just grateful for the past year and looking forward to Him unveiling his plan for my future one day at a time.

PS: My Mom's back, and am glad she is. Thanx for the support blogsville.
