Perfection Doesn't Live Here...

Hi B'ville Folks,

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend, and saying a prayer for the men and women fighting to keep us safe...and for the ones who lost their lives fighting. May the good Lord strengthen and protect their families...Amen.

We learn from our personal experiences, and the experiences of others. Sometimes these experiences spur us to do better and not repeat mistakes made in the past, and sometimes they scare us (or me) to the point where in trying not to make those same mistakes we end up handling things the wrong way, hurting ourselves and even those who love us and maybe even landing right back at square one.(I hope this makes sense...lol...but read on) We've all seen relationships, marriages and unions where things were rough, and the bad times out weighed the good. There's the absence of respect, acknowledgment, trust, equality and even love. We see one party take on so much, and by so much, I mean disrespect, abuse -physical, verbal and emotional- humiliation, financial burden and what not. In some cases they are able to opt-out (for lack of a better word) before they lose themselves, and in other cases, they stay and "hang in there" for a variety of reasons.

To those of us looking in from the outside we sometimes cannot understand why they "hang in there", we are quick to state how if it were us we would do this and do that. All of which is easier said than done. For some of us this scenario is very familiar, because maybe our Moms, Uncles, Aunts, friends, cousins, neighbors, co-workers, and so on have experienced this. And looking at what they went through, I vowed to myself that I won't make the same mistake. I won't tolerate nonsense. I won't allow myself be disrespected. I won't settle for less (and I won't give less of myself). I won't accept abuse in ANY form. I'm sure a lot of us can relate, and knw what I'm talking about.

Trying to find balance between being a good partner, friend, lover and being a young woman who doesn't take nonsense, settle for less, carry financial burden and condone abuse of any kind is not as easy sometimes. I remember during the early stages of our relationship, when My Luv dsn't call, text or come online for one day, I'd have a fit! Get upset with him, and even after he explains and apologizes, I'd still have an attitude. When we have misunderstandings I'd want to have the final word or say. #gbam! lol... To even communicate at times, I'd hold back stuff because I didn't want to be vulnerable... and a whole bunch of other things.

I did all of these becos I was trying to be a no nonsense, do not settle for less, I must be respected and treated right, tough young lady. Now it is ok to want to be that, but I was going about it the wrong way and causing mre harm than good. It is ok to look out for myself, but a relationship is about two people. I was too focused on me, me, me. What about him, and the way he feels? Also respect is earned and not demanded. And instead of getting upset or having an unnecessary attitude, what I really wanted to say was "I missed you, why didn't you call?"...I wasn't communicating properly. I'm not perfect but I keep learning to be a better me, and my gbam gbam ways were not it. Everyday I try to communicate better; if I'm mad or upset, I say it and let it go without holding a grudge. I am not always right. I'm learning that it's ok to be vulnerable it gives him the opportunity to be more than jst My Luv, he becomes my Man.

Why am I saying all this? Bcos on Saturday, myself and some other participants of Vera's show called out the co-host (Uncle Demola) for not giving us proper examples for us to learn from; the topic was about marriages and divorces, and we were discussing the diff possible reasons why they failed. Again, I am no expert. Just a fellow blogger sharing an experience. My fear of becoming one of those women before me, made me handle things the wrong way...and now I'm learning better ways to tackle 'em. My Luv is patient, and we work it out together. Good things require effort, and we put in the effort because we're both worth it.

Perfection doesn't live here...but continuous learning, patience, support and lots of love do!!!

PS: If this doesn't mke sense, blame it on the fact that it's 2.18am and my eyes are closing and my brain is observing Memorial Day holiday. Ignore any typos or #gbagauns pls.

PPS: Pls pray for me and my family, been having some weird dreams of late. Prayerpoint: Pray against death, tragedies and misfortune...and pray for stronger and renewed relationships with God. Thanks guys!!!

Talk to you guys soon,

...10 Things iLove...

Hi Blogsville...

How's ur week coming along? Hope things are going well, and blessings and favors are finding each and every one of you. Thanks to the ppl who commented on my last post. I appreciate ur suggestions, and wld look into them. Cerebally Busy are u suggesting I write one because u think I have small potential or just to mock me?!! Lol...the thought of writing a book seems a bit scary to me. Funny thing is I wrote one when I was in primary school, and my Mom made negotiations with a publisher to make sample copies and all that, but life got in the way and that never came to fruition. Well who knows, maybe I'll write again someday...I hope I do.

Before I start rambling off, let me get to the main reason for this post. My friend Ms.O tagged me to do "10 Things iLove..." a while back, so these are a few of the things iLove...enjoy :D (PS: This list is in no particular order)

- SURPRISES: iLove surprises! Birthdays, Holidays, Everyday...there doesn't have to be an occasion or special event. iLove surprises just cause. A visit from a friend, unexpected pressies or thoughtful little things or gestures just warm my heart and light up my face :-). Sha not a surprise that will get me mad o if not wahala dey.

- TRAVEL: iLove to travel! *sigh* Just thinking of all the places I want to visit is getting me all excited. In high-school, I went on as many excursion trips as my folks pocket could take care of. I went to Togo for French excursion, then for Geography our trip took us to Jos, Bauchi, Abuja, and for Hausa acculturation we went to ...... I enjoy flying (as long as I'm not sitting next to a psycho, or a talkative, or a stinky dude, or an extra nice old lady), and I enjoy road-trips too as long as I have good company. I want to visit France, Australia, Rome, China beautiful islands like the Virgin Islands, Seychelles, etc. I really would like to visit a couple of these places before I get married, and then take regular vacations with the hubby whenever I get married. So note to #myfuturehusband, I love to travel, and u will be coming along for the ride so prepare thyself :D.

- JEWELRY: Like almost every girl, iLove jewelry pieces, but specifically silver, white-gold and platinum *wink*. But platinum is outta my price range for now so I'm a .925 (silver) kinda girl. I dnt own one piece of gold jewelry;back in Naij if I need to dress in native and needed a gold piece, I borrowed my Mom's. But I'm slowly warming up to gold...keyword slowly. Few years ago when I worked in the jewelry section of a store, a good chunk of my paycheck went to silver pieces. They are just beautiful. My engagement ring n' wedding band are definitely going to be platinum.:D

- MUSIC/DANCE: If u know me...n' know me well, you'll know that I love to dance! I doubt that I can survive an hour in the gym, but I'll survive on the dance floor, in my apartment...wherever there is good music...I'll survive. I'm a huge fan of Naija music...there's just something about the songs that make me wanna move n' groove. I think my boyfie worries sometimes...lol...too much energy...he just sits and smiles n' lets me do me.

- NAIJA FOOD: If I were in Naija I know I would have put on weight for sure. Chei...as I'm typing my mouth is watering n' wanting. Banga and Starch. Poundie n' Ogbono wiv assorted. Ofada rice n' peppered stew. Market rice (rice wrapped in leaf n' sold in the market or hawked around). Amala and Egusi or Ewedu. Kpomo joint. Turkey joint. Suya. Shawarma. Ppl need I continue? I dnt think so...u get the picture. iLove Naija food.

- ROMANCE/LOVE: Yes...yes...I am a sucker for all things love. And yes I know sometimes love comes around and it knocks us down, but I believe in getting up, dusting yourself off and getting back in the game (at your own pace o). Because when it's right, everything feels good. iLove romantic gestures, and i'm a PDA kinda girl...walking holding hands, stealing glances from across the room, butt- squeezing, yelz :D iLove it all. Muahz!!!

SHOPPING: this for me is a love/hate rship. I enjoy shopping when I'm not hungry, and when I can find things in my size and price range. When I can't find my size, it is very frustrating! If I have an occasion, I have to shop ahead of time just in-case I need to have the outfit fitted...I cnt just walk-in pick a dress and go. But that notwithstanding I love bringing home my shopping loot and trying stuff on and all that.

DULCE DE LECHE: My favorite ice-cream flavor at the moment. Pure bliss!!! I tell you...try it and you'll be convinced. Caramel goodness.

-   BMWs: I love Beamers! I can't explain what it is, but I just love 'em. And by God's grace I will own one! I know I will.  I want leather seats with the wooden, polished dashboard....yeah baby!

-   HIS LIST:So I ran out of things iLove and I asked My Luv to help me out and he mentioned: Tennis, Conference call with my two girlies, dance "you dance like there is no tomorrow", lol his words!!! He also mentioned, flowers (red roses) and Twitter...lol... He sure does know me well...thanx babie.

So my dear B'ville, there you have it...a few of the Things iLove. Hope you enjoyed knowing a lil' bit about moi. Continue to have a fabulous week my luvlies.

And if you haven't done this meme, pls consider yourself tagged!!! Yes u! lol

Thou Shall Not Steal My Peace

Hi Blog Fam...

How's everyone doing? Hope you all had a wonderful weekend...and are energized and ready to take on the week.

The past week has been topsy turvy...good news n' not so good news, but it's all good. God dey.
Last week was Mother's Day here in the Amerix; I took my Mom to go see "Why Did I Get Married Too". She loved it, and laughed all through, just like she did for the first one. Her favorite character was the Psycho Angela...lol. It was a day well spent, and am glad my Mom loved it...she deserved it and more.

I had two presentations during the week, one group and the other individual. Both went well. Thank God. I have one course portfolio to turn in on Tuesday, and a Biology final on Thursday and I'm done for the semester. I should be excited about Summer being around the corner right? Wrong. I am officially jobless/internship-less this summer, and this wasn't my plan but it is what it is.

Congratulations to all the graduants of 2010...go forth and conquer the world! I can't wait for it to be my turn next year *sigh* it seems like ages away.

So after service today, I got home and I had this sort of calm. Inspite of lil' setbacks I was experiencing, I was calm...and just taking things easy, which is unlike me. Normal me would be worrying, thinking and jst get worked up. But here I was, calm and believing that His will be done, everything will be fine. I even tweeted about it saying, is this what the bible means when it says "peace that passes all understanding", or is this me jst learning to handle things differently? Only for a few hours later I feel the calm fading away, and anger and sadness building up...I rebuke o!

Whether it is the devil or whatever it is, it shall not steal my peace! I refuse to be down and out oo. Since they say an idle mind is dat sucker's workshop...I chose to not be idle by getting my toes done...lol...and blogging...and so far it's working. :)

In other news pls why does Pandora not have Naija songs? So I just got addicted to it (Pandora) recently...keeps me going when I'm @ work and @ home too. Found some really good music on my Natasha Beddingfeld station...like Adele, and Corrine R Bailey. I had heard of 'em but never took time out to listen to their work. iLove iLove alot!

This is random but I can't seem to watch any episode of Extreme Home Makeover without crying. I really shd have pursued my acting career, cos I wld be so good @ crying scenes. I tear up easily; Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice... emotional moments that would have other people smiling, I'll tear up *sigh* #dontjudgeme lol

Neways, have a wonderful week ahead my luvlies...kick sme butt in whatever you do!

Talk to you soon,

My Mama...!!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there, and the mother figures too.
I can't even begin to list or say all the things that my Mom does that makes her special...because its everything she does.

The good, the bad...she's there. Through the ups and downs, she stays gbam gbam!
Even when we fight...lol...her love stays unconditional. After we've just argued about something my Mom will ask, "have you eaten?" or "come and see what they are showing on tv" or she'll come sit next to me ...lol...meanwhile me I'll be frowning.

I love you Mummy...and I celebrate you everyday in my heart, because I know...I know Mummy the sacrifice but I do my best everyday to show you that it was worth it...and not in vain. May the good Lord give you looong life...I want my kids to learn a lot from you, and grow up with the kind of love you've showered on me.

Love you Mummy...now off to church and later if you're not too tired, we'll go to the movies like you wanted...muah!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!

I Need A Shrink...

You ever feel the need to just talk? to someone...anyone...most likely someone who you don't know, who doesn't know you and most likely will never know you. You just meet them somewhere at the airport, at the park, in a jammed elevator and you just talk and after a while you say to each other "Twas nice meeting you" and you both go your separate ways without the intention of ever keeping in-touch or catching up.

We all have friends, but sometimes infact most times, we still keep certain things that happen in our lives away from them. Consciously choosing not to share certain things with them...we hold back. To all the special and important people in our lives we open up to an extent and then hold back some stuff. My question is so who do we then talk to and open up 100% to? With the exception of God, cos even to Him we hold back forgetting that He sees and hears all...lol.

Do you ever get to the point where you've held back, and held back soo much that you feel like you could explode? What do you do? Is that when you curl up and watch ur favorite series with a tub of ice-cream and tears streaming down your face...and at first you don't know why but then there's a mixture of emotions from everything you've been holding back? Anger. Frustration. Disappointment. Loneliness. And all the other possible emotions that there are. Or do you reach for liquor to soothe and help you temporarily escape? Or do you write stories or poems? Or you listen to music and ball like a child...and when that gospel song comes that hits the spot you almost want to drop to ur knees wherever you are and just say "Take me Lord, and do as you please" cos I'm tired of holding back?

When I get to that point of feeling like exploding, I write in my journal but not anymore...writing takes too long and the words aren't coming out fast enough. My favorite ice-cream Dulce de Leche isn't helping anymore, shopping is only a temporary escape...music isn't hitting the right spot anymore...I don't want to curl up and cry, I've done that already and I know its not gonna help. I've prayed and well... I just want to talk. I just want to talk without feeling like I'm being judged, without someone thinking I'm a tad bit looney, talk without holding back so I can be free and just be. But talk to who?

We hold back from friends, family and loved ones because well ermmm we dnt want to be vulnerable, scared that if we quarrel with that friend they might have our words as ammunition to hurt us in future, and like that we stay. I started blogging to be able to write and vent anonymously well I'm not anonymous to some anymre so that option is out the window. So this is why I need a Shrink. But my mother doesn't like them...(she's in the health field) she worries that they are quick to label people as depressed and that once that goes on your medical file...its a wrap! They dump anti-depressant into ur system and you go from just stressed to really depressed and looney. :) So if she hears that I want to see a shrink...she'll prolly have heart -attack....mother's are dramatic sha...lol

*sigh* I just want to talk...and let all my thoughts, worries, concerns out...and then pick up my bag and leave...just unload. Is that too much to ask? I want to believe I'm not alone in this, but if I am oh well :) ....But just incase I'm not alone....oya oo share what do you do when you just want to unload...and talk???

Have a wonderful week ahead my luvlies!

PS: I'm not going psycho or anything of the sorts oo....not yet I think...lol

Talk to you guys soon,

Random Update

Hi B'ville,

For a second, I almost typed 'hi tweeps'...lol...Twitter is technological crack...no jokes! It gets you high, gets you addicted...and then gets you hungover, but you still keep coming back for more *sigh*

Hope y'all had a peaceful and somewhat productive weekend? Mine was, and I'm still trying to be productive but I've been itching to blog and jst cldn't avoid it anymre...so hear I am, typing up a random post for your reading pleasure :)

The response to my Long Distance Relationship 101 post was wow! 22 comments, the highest this blog has ever received. I wasn't sure how u guys were gonna receive the post, but apparently you all loved it, and found it very informational and supportive of your own thots on LDRs. I am grateful to everyone that read, and left a comment. I plan on doing a Part Deux II...this time focusing more on the emotional, social and trivial but important issues. Again, I'm no expert just writing from my 4yrs and counting of personal LDR experience. If you have any qstns or suggestions e-mail me: MsUndercover7@yahoo.com

I'm still waiting on a response from two agencies for a summer internship...waiting isn't fun at all. I've put it all in His hands, because I have no power of my own. #Pray for me o.

I'm worried. Supposed to graduate in Dec. but if I can't complete my foreign language requirement, I'm gonna have to stay one more semester and graduate in May '11. Ah! How many years will someone stay in school for? I want to be out in Dec, so I can start my Masters in Sept '11. I'm tired of when people call and they say 'ah u still haven't finished?" For crying out loud, is it play I'm playing here? If I don't get out by Dec., I dnt knw if I'll want to go home to Naij in Dec. for Christmas, cos I cnt stand the qstns. (My Luv dsn't knw this...he's not going to be happy if he sees this)

Speaking of My Luv, he seems to be on a mission. His mission is to drown me in his love...I'm constantly on cloud 9. I don't know what tomorrow has in-store for me or anyone else, people are here today, gone tomorrow. And then we wish we had said this, done this or could make amends. I do not want to wish anything tomorrow, so instead of putting up a front and playing silly games... this is me appreciating you my darling today. For being you, for being there. Thank you.

There was a Timaya and Bracket concert in NY on saturday, and I wanted to go. But thanks to my Biology quiz and a whole lot of school work, I skipped it. I heard it wasn't worth it o, that Timaya was drunk before he even got on stage...lol...gotta luv him still. Also that Bracket was "mumbling"; I guess he had a Jessica Simpson moment. Its one thing to forget the lyrics to someone else's song, but your own song? That's funny. In other entertainment news, according to our dear @BankyW via Twitter, his people are working on a him coming to NY this summer. Please, please, please if you are on Twitter or you know Banky personally, or someone who knows someone who knows him, please tell him to make it happen!!! That is one concert I won't miss at all.

I'm sure you guys have all seen the pics from Dagrin's accident, pls dnt forget to put him in your prayers. We wish him speedy recovery.

...Aiight I think that's about it for now. Excuse the randomness, I'm sleepy but trying to stay up and study.

Have a blessed week guys!

Talk to you soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!

...Happy B'day!!!...

Today, you add another year to your life
As you grow older, may you grow wiser
May your walk with Him continue to blossom
May your steps be ordered
Let His word be a light unto your path
Sickness and tragedy will never know you by name
Negativity and failure will never find you
He will bless you and enlarge your territory

May He go before you to lead you
Under you to uplift you
Beside you to guide you
Behind you to protect you
Above you to bless you
Amen!

Another birthday, another milestone
I pray for more years...
To see your face
To hear your voice and have butterflies in my tummy
To sit n' stare at you and wonder how I got so lucky
To give you the 'the look' when you've had enuff beer
To ask you your opinion on things and make decisions wiv u
To be fed by you...promise not to bite ur finger...NOT!
To sit and watch Arsenal matches...things I do for you
To continue solving crossword puzzles...(I still dnt understnd Sudoku, u hve to explain it again)
To have ur ever listening ear, strong shoulders and encouraging attitude
To have my very own personal clown, always makin me laugh

...Long Distance Relationship 101...

Hi Blogsville,

How's the Easter weekend going? Hope great!
I have so much to tell you guys; initially I was gonna blog about some random twitter incident/drama that happened to me, but after Vera's show today, I have something else to blog about. If u missed the Verastic radio show for this week then u're on a long thing! The topic was LDRs (Long Distance Relationships) and you ur girl had to call in and drop her two cents :). So basically, this post is my POV on LDRs, supported with my personal experience.

First and foremost, let me start off by saying LDRs are not for everyone. I say this because a LDR is no joke, it requires a lot of commitment, trust, patience and sacrifice. If you know you can't handle not seeing the person u're in a relationship with for more than a week, month or in my case a year, then just jejely save urself the madness, heart- ache and having to explain why u cldn't control ur 'agro' n 'hysteria' (cc:NiceAnon's post) and went to cheat. I repeat LDRs are not for the weak at heart, and for those who need human servicing on the regular!!!

It is great to be in a relationship with someone who you connect with on so many levels; someone who you are attracted to intellectually, emotionally, physically (very very important oo if not..hmm..lol), spiritually and all the other 'ally' connections that there might be. But I also advice that you and this person are on the same page in regards to career, goals, core-values, and education. He/She should share the same core-values as you so that your foundation is not shaky, and u atleast agree on the values that guide ur way of life, if not u'll end up arguing on everything and anything. He/She should either be in school getting their smarts on, if they've graduated then they shd either be working or pursuing their studies further, if its business they're doing then they better be working their butts off...bottom line is they shd have goals, be driven and be doing something about those goals if not it'll be hard when one person is moving forward and the other is stagnant. U begin to wonder where is this relationship going, is there a future? Can he/she handle responsibilities? And once doubt sets in...you begin to withdraw and slowly it all comes crashing.

Relationships are an investment, and LDRs are a greater investment. I say this because you devote time, emotions, finances and yourself to someone other than yourself with the hopes that that person will give you some ROI (return on investment). Unlike regular relationships where you get to see the person on a regular bases, LDRs are different so to make up for the physical absence the parties involved have to find ways to fill that void and keep the relationship interesting and constantly connected. You spend hours on the phone calling, texting, chatting, skyping, and webcamming*. You drive hours, fly across state lines and across continents to spend quality time, holidays, anniversaries and so on. For important celebrations you send flowers, presents, and lil' reminders just to let them know u're thinking of them.

All these things cost money, and that's why I mentioned in d previous paragraph dat both parties better be doing smething and have some form of financial income. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying money is everything or that it is the foundation on which a solid relationship shd be built; I know that the little things matter and there are somethings that money can't buy...but the reality is this- Big things matter, and little things matter too, but neither the big or the little things come for free...they have to be paid for. I mean check this...its not her birthday but you want to send her flowers just cause...you have to pay for it. You want to have her over during her one week Spring Break, errmm you gotta pay for the flight or drive down. Its his birthday and you can't be there, but u want to send his pressie anyway, after spending about 100bucks on a gift, you still gotta pay UPS or Fedex to ship it...if its overseas well u do the math. You spend hours on the phone and go over ur minutes, you know the phone company dnt waste time in sending you that huge bill...no mercy. So u get the picture now? LDRs are expensive...no talk say I no tell you o!

When I tell people I am in a LDR I see the skepticism in their faces, and the next thing they ask is "Aren't you worried he'll cheat?" and I ask "What stops me from cheating?". It's always easier to think the guy is d one who will cheat, but we babes are not an exception. The truth is if a guy wants to cheat he'll cheat, whether u are at the North Pole or right next to him. We see it everyday, u go out and a guy is wiv his babe but is asking u for ur number. Now this dsn't mean I've never let the thought cross my mind; I used to worry about it at the early stage but if I spend mre time worrying over what I had no control over and no actual proof of, I lose out on all the other great things that this man and relationship has to offer. So if you know you can't handle worrying, thinking, over-analyzing and spy-checking every minute, then spare yourself the high-blood pressure.

Since this post is getting long I'm gonna end on this note, with a message for those who know someone in a/an LDR. Please, please for the love of God, don't be sour and negative about it. Ur friend tells you he/she is in a/an LDR and you immediately start spewing out a number of reasons why the relationship is doomed, why it won't work out and how ur experience was horrible so therefore all others will be just as horrible. Please save us the sermon. This is someone's relationship for crying out loud, show some respect. If you want to drop your two cents do it with sense. They say one man's meat is another man's poison, the fact that urs didn't work out or u've heard dat dey dnt work is not enuff proof that this one wouldn't. Not all face-to-face/ regular relationships make it, so if a/an LDR dsn't make it, it dsn't mke it. Maybe it jst wasn't meant to be, or it was time to call it quits, or the people were jst wrong for each other.

Its hard enough being away from a loved one, dnt make it worse by disrespecting ur friends relationship, and mocking it; encourage and support him/her. If it works out rejoice with them, if it doesn't over a shoulder, an ear, some tissue and organize a girls/guys nite out...cos dats wat friends are for. Be the Cristina to your Meredith!!!!! Be their person!!!

I'm gonna do a part II on this topic. If you have any questions pls drop them in the comment box or e-mail me: MsUndercover7@yahoo.com

Have a wonderful Easter everyone!!!!
Love you guys loadzzz.....

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!!!

Have you seen my passion?

Hi Guys,

How's everyone doing? Its the weekend again! Its funny how some of us get so excited its the weekend, like we have huge plans when in reality...we don't...lol. It jst feels good to be able to sleep in late, have breakfast in bed (tho u have to get up to put it together), listen to Vera's show, and generally just do you. So yeah, I am glad its the weekend.

In addition to it being weekend, I am on Spring Break so yay me! I sometimes wonder where my adventurous and fun side went to. My whole college life I have never done anything fun and exciting with my breaks; spring break, winter break, watever break...*sigh* nothing! People go to Miami, Mexico, Puerto Rico, London, Paris...my behind stays indoors. The annoying part is I do love to go out (for the most part), but I seem to have surrounded myself with boring people. I love my friends, dnt get me wrong, but I think I need to make more out-going (not necessarily wild sha o) and adventurous friends.

I wanna go on a road trip! To anywhere, Miami ain't a bad idea. My friends wanted to do a roadtrip to Canada but that plan never solidified cos of scheduling issues. London nko...no money. *sigh* Even exploring some really cool spots in NYC won't be a bad idea...I need me some oyinbo, and ching- chong friends ASAP. They are open to trying out things and dnt have drama...lol.

In other news, everyone seems to be getting married left, right and centre. I can't even begin to count how many babes from my set have gotten and are getting married...the thing tire me o. Was talking about it with friends the other day and I personally have nothing against it. When I see pics up on FB or the like I usually say Congrats and wish them well, bcos to me I feel that's all we can do as friends, wish them well. Its ok if some of us think its too early and we haven't gotten both feet strong enough on the ground to uphold a family and the responsibilities both financial and emotional, but if a friend (someone u knw) has decided they are ready to tke the plunge, then so be it. My friend disagrees...lol...she said she can't bring herself to drop congratulatory comments. The part that cracks me up, is when ppl leave comments but dnt knw how to hide the skepticism/surprise....I mean just say congrats and put full stop, not "Babe u r getting married? ehen na wa oo. Congrats" or "Congratulations oooo" or " Are you for real? I wish you well sha"....as in which one is the ooooooo and sha inside?lol.

It seems like everyone is finding their passion or calling, and I can't help but wonder, where is mine? People have photography, make-up artist, writer, cooking/baking and other interesting things...I have nothing, or at least that's how I feel :(. I know someone will say when you where younger what did you want to be? I used to say a Lawyer cos I talked ALOT and my nick-name was 'radio without wire", meaning I cld go on on. But I always wanted to be an actress (still do), but everytime I said it ppl looked at me like yeah right u jst dnt wanna work, keep living in fantasyland...so I let that dream go after taking two acting classes in college.

I just want to find something I'm passionate about...I know its a wonderful feeling doing something you love, not necessarily as a full-time job, but just the realization that this is part of what you were put on earth to do and you enjoy it. I want that feeling. *sigh* So my dear blogville famille...share with a sister, have you found your passion or calling? What is it? And how does it feel?

Have a fabulous weekend guys...and if anyone is in NYC and wants to just hang-out holla @ me.

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!!!

You're Hired!!!!!

Hello Blogsville,

How's everyone doing? Hope the weekend was fun, peaceful and all u wanted it to be. I had so much school work to do over the weekend, but I didn't achieve much at all...no motivation. Oh well.

Ok so I have small good news for u guys...ur prayers worked!!! I got offered a small gig last week, as a Marketing Intern @ a company that provides software for distance and blended learning; if you use BlackBoard at ur school, you might notice a program on it called Pronto, yeah dats part of their work. I'm so excited...this is like my first internship in my field/major. Still looking for something for the summer...cos this is temp. for now. Thanks for ur prayers!!!!

Spring is here!!!!!! Woohoo!!!So last week we had 60 degrees weather, and the sun was out! Now, it back to dreary, cloudy, foggy weather but its not winter cold so I dnt hve to layer up, so I'm grateful for that sha. Its time to take out this weave/braids and let my hair breathe...its funny how when u think its time to take out ur weave, braids or wateva extensions u begin to get mre n' mre compliments on the hair...lol...and it mkes u kip shifting (9ja lingo) d deadline, b4 u knw it u'll hve wat luks lyk an old mop on ur head. Lol...dat's wat has been happening o...everytime I say i wanna tke d damn thing out, I get compliments n' I'm like hmmm ok 2mre days, 3mre days...lol.

U know that phrase...about the grass being greener on the other side? Ermm, Iono bout dat oo...lol. I remember late '08 I had jst broken up wiv my then boyfrnd, and on hand I was going thru all the whirlwind of emotions that come with ending a 3yr relationship, but I was sorta kinda excited to be single. Felt like I had been trapped, and now I cld be free and jst do me o jare...and enjoy single life...lol. Long story short, ermm I thot single life was easier than being in a relationship, but I beg to differ now oo. The dating process can be fun, but juggling the guys is work sometimes jo..especially when u r jst tryna hve a gudtime and the guys begin to catch feelings, get attached and want to claim ownership...wahala dey. Ermmm b4 y'all get it twisted I'm nt d one in dis situation o...lol...I am no longer on d market, its my recently single friend dats experiencing this.

I'm sooo excited...Dancing With The Stars is baacck.!!! I luv luv luv the show...Derek Hough is a hottie...damn n Maksim is sizzling too. But I jst watched Chad Ocho Cinco dance and dere's smething there...d dude is...I dnt knw wat it is but I like....lol. Meanwhile these judges r funny...lol...Bruno jst said Shannon Doherty was swinging her hands like a primate...lwkmd!!!!

I'm off to continue watching o jare...lol...I love u guys bunchesssss....really do.

Talk to you soon,
xoxo,

I'm in Love + Update

Hello Blogsville,

How's everybody doing? Hpe great. Everytime I log on to try and update, by the time I'm done reading all ur posts I forget what exactly I had in mind to blog about...lol. Neways, today I decided to just drop one or two lines regardless of my lack of blogging topic.

First off to all the commenters on my last post "Butterflies", hmmm well what can I say; I am in love, and it feels good. So y'all should allow my lil' spontaneous acts that scream "hopelessly in love" "romantic" and all that mushy stuff :-) I'm just happy in every sense of the word...and I'm thankful. Ok enuff b4 I bore u with mushy mush!lol

So remember I mentioned I was on the search for summer internships, well initially I was freaking out that no one was calling me back either to schedule interviews or even reject me gan sef. My people, in the past 2weeks, I've been on like 4 interviews!!! Please help me praise God biko...I'm not kidding oh...tell Baba God thank u on my behalf pls. So now its to wait for the application deadlines, then they'll start calling up people with offers, and I am believing in God to finish what He has started. Pls continue to put me in ur prayers o, even if its a one-liner Baba God hears everything.

I was in MD 2weeks ago for my friend's 21st, and we had a blaaaassst. We went to Lux on Friday, and one sketchy Mango Lounge (M Lounge) on Saturday. As sketchy as the M Lounge was with some African Papas n' Mamas in leopard print outfits n suits...lol...the DJ was on pointtttt! The dude killed it yo'....mixing correct Naija jams wiv regular club jams. We had a realll gud time. And no I ddn't get wasted, just happy enuff to not go overboard. :-)

One the other hand Wande Coal n' Mo'Hits crew were in town (NY) last weekend, but thanks to the wicked brutal rainstorm and assignments, coupled with the fact that I am on a budget, I cldn't make it. I heard it rocked tho'...ddn't expect less from the crew sha. Wish I was there :-(

So in other news, according to the weather forecast, it is gonna be a wonderful week weather wise. We are talking freaking 60 degrees weather. Woohoo!!!! I am tired of wearing coats and layers...as if I am not petite enough, to now be weighed down by layers of clothes and heavy jackets...who knws maybe that's what affected my vertical growth sef...lol.

Speaking of vertical growth, its funny how people seem to think that I might be bothered bout my height. But erm sorry to disappoint u o but I love it. It cmes in very handy. When I board the plane, ppl r always so anxious to help me put my luggage in the over head compactment. When I'm checking in, I jst stand there and bat my eyelashes and b4 I knw it, my two-three huge suitcases have been lifted for me and checked in with ease. The other day I'm @ an interview and they ask me wat I wld like to change about myself, and I am like ermm...nothing rili. The lady was like oh bcos I once interviewed someone who wished he was taller. Me I was like, I dnt wish I was taller, ppl always use their Panadol for my own headache by telling me to always wear high-heels; but I disagree with them...I wear high-heels when the event calls for it, besides that I wear my lovely, colorful, comfortable flats so I can move comfortable without pain written all over my face from wearing heels all day. (well I ddn't use those exact words sha oo..lol..)

Neways my darlings ur one and only has got to run. I have a class in 15mins, and I need to print some ish out first. Love y'all like guys love their foot-ball teams.

PS: I'm an Arsenal fan by boyfriend...lol...the dedication and loyalty that My Babie has to this team ehn, chei! Its interesting to watch sha...lol...love u babie!!!!!

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!!!

...Butterflies

A wide smile across my face,

Eyes that twinkle with excitement,

A stomach filled with butterflies,

A heart overflowing wiv love;

This is what you do to me

And for these and many more

I love you.

Mini-Vacation: Randoms

Hello Blogsville,

Hws everyone doing? Hpe y'all made the best of ur weekend.
I missed Vera's show on saturday :(, my apologies to my chat-room buddies...pls fill me in on wat I missed, any interesting callers and comments.

My friend was in town for a job interview, and the coy, put her up in a hotel so I went to spend d nite wiv her...and thanks to the snow storm, one night turned into three...lol. So we were on a mini-vacation in mid-town New York. After our stay, I hve vowed to invest in a good mattress when am ready to get my own place...chei...all my body pains were gone after the first night...lol.

Please somebody tell winter that we've had enough biko. Haba! Can we have some lil' sunshine pls. Mnwhyl, I hear the sun is roasting ppl in Naij. The heat is dt country odikwa dangerous sha oo...as in...its like...ouch...ppl r burning up. Even those dt go grm AC hse to AC car to AC jobs dey complain, not to talk of those wivout AC. I dnt knw hw those market women, street hawkers and homeless ppl do it mehn...especially the children. Lord help dem.

It's my friend B's birthday next weekend, so we're all headed to MD. Looking forward to unwinding, and having a good time. Meanwhile I hear Wande Coal is gonna be in town the upper weekend; not sure if I'm gonna go yet. Babes r broke!!! I hate being broke, but hey every phase in life teaches us something, and I'm learning hw to live on no income...and jst believing dt He'll work something out soon. Been sending out apps. like no man's business. God dey o.

Pls has anyone seen the Toyota Sienna ad whr the oyinbo family call their mini-van a "Swagger- Wagon"...lol...I think its funny. I knw d word swagger has been abused n' misused, but its jst funny to see oyinbo man n' woman using it...lol. While we're on dat swag tip, Kobe Bryant is a fine man sha ooo...ahn ahn. Dude is on d March edition of GQ, and am watchn a Lakers game, and I'm like....dayuum!!! the way he chews gum while on d court is kinda u knw *wink*...lol...well u get my drift ryt? ryt.

Quick question oo, why do the players hve to shake/tap each other during free throws? Isn't it time wasting? #justasking

The things dat a suit can do to a man...take a guy from anywhere, put him in a nicely tailored suit, clean him up, a nice hair-cut n' all, on point cuff-links and shoes...then spray some cologne on him...the kind dat mkes u wanna wear his shirt in bed...and the dude is good to go! The wonders of a suit. I love when a man can wear a suit, not the suit wearing the man...na mean? it helps when the guy isn't bursting out of d suit sha ooo...lol...but I'm a sucker for a man in a good looking suit.

Aiight guys...dats about it for now. Hopefully if my week isn't crazy I'll stop by and put up a post, if not knw dat I luv u guys bunches. And I'm happy my last post was helpful/meaningful to a few ppl, and it met them at a time dey needed it. It meant alot to me, to be of some help.

Have a fabulousssss week guys, and remember to be THANKFUL, and PRAYERFUL.

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!

...Thank You Lord!...

...It is sad that it sometimes takes seeing someone else in a worse condition before we appreciate what we have. That being said, I'm just as guilty so I do not judge...who am I to.

The past two weeks have been heavy for me, but today I realize its been so because I made it so...I let myself create burden where there wasn't any; the issues are there, but its like I keep saying take control Father, but in reality I'm not giving Him room to actually take control.*sigh* I'm saying take the wheel, but I'm not letting Him drive. I keep stressing and worrying over tomorrow, what will happen, I need this I need that, why isn't it working for me like it is for others... I have forgotten to say Thank You for my daily bread, thank you for the little things... So today, I'm saying:

Thank you for the gift of life, some people didn't mke it to today but here I am. Walking. Talking. Healthy. I can see, I can think...

Thank you for my family, for the trying times that u've gotten us through. That at the end of the day, we still have one another to be there for each other. The unconditional love that binds us is a reflection of ur undying love towards us.

Thank you for my relationship. For giving him patience and wisdom to be the man that he is. Bless the work of his hands Father, and continue to guide us and order our steps according to ur word, and continue to be the rock on which we stand.

Thank you for my school work. It is not by my power Lord, but ur unmerited favor that continues to find me. Thank you. Help me to be the best I can be.

Thank you for my job. U gave it to me and now that it has come to an end, you will again bring to me what is mine. Thank you for my internship search, continue to do ur thing Father.

Thank you for my friends. For their understanding, love, laughter I bless u Lord. Never leave them or forsake them Daddy, may they have the Holy Spirit to guide them always.

Thank you Lord! Thank you Lord! Thank you Lord! My heart and my soul say thank you. For all you've done and what you continue to do. Thank you. I am sorry for all the time I have been selfish, that I have been unappreciative, for getting mad unnecessarily, for losing focus of the blessings that u have sent my way...I am sorry. Thank you for not forsaking me...Thank you.

Thank you Lord!

NB: We always get caught up in the rush of the world and life itself, but when we can we should say Thank You. Its never too late...NEVER. Hope everyone had a fabulous and a blessed weekend! Love you guys much!

Talk to you soon,
xoxo,

Miss Enigma!!!

...I'm so DONE!!! (Rant Alert)

I'm done...so DONE. Ki lo de? Is it a crime to be nice? And why can't nice gestures be reciprocated...come on now. I'm not allergic to niceties, neither am I incapable of accepting nice gestures.
I wasn't christened a mumu @ birth...hell no! But out of the goodness of my heart I go the extra mile for u, it wld be really nice if u keep up ur end of deal. Like wat da fudge? Why do friends and ppl we hold dear have to screw us over and tke things for granted??? Why???
My new year resolution last year was to learn to say NO, but apparently I haven't learnt how...and more than ever I'm regretting why I haven't learnt how to. Cos in d end I'm the one who gets screwed over and is stuck wiv the annoying mix of emotions as I am now. Argggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Why me...why me! patch patch pacth...lol...forever patching. Using my phensic for other people's head-ache...who is using theirs on mine now? NO ONE.
Well...we live to learn abi how does dat line go. I can't change the past...but from here on I'm done with BS, can't deal wiv it anymre neither can I settle for less. I'm picking myself up and doing the best I can, y'all better do same cos I ain't picking nobody up nemre. And I'm damn right gonna say NO when I wanna and if u dnt like it, well kiss my lil' behind cos I dnt care...I'm done caring what the world thinks....how about what I think. Mschewwwww!!!!!!
...............................................................................................................

Hi Guys,

How's everyone doing today? :) So I listened in on Vera's radioshow, and boy did I have good time. I called in too!!! And I made a new friend Ms.O!!!!! Been tidying up our apt. and I'm tired! This America that everyone is claiming to be going-green, pls they shd start by not sending people unnecessary stuff in the damn mail! Everyday something comes in that I dnt need, its like the apt. is almost drowning in papers. All these companies killin d poor trees and yet they'll say dey r eco-friendly this n' that, my friend lemme hear word jo.

Meanwhile, I have a whole stack of magazines and I dnt knw wat to do with them o! All these mags dat mke someone want to thief...abeg dat 1million dt Vera was tlkn bout if I see it now ehn, the life of my ward-robe will never be the same again...chei. It sucks to be broke and not have any income watsoever. My brokeness/ anger towards some people is d reason for the above rant...lol...so bear with me. Funny hw u remember ur debtors wen u're broke and its like wat da fudge? shame no dey catch u to return my money? Abi u think say I no get wetin i wan tke am do. And then I'm jst tired of doing for ppl and putting everyone first b4 me. Y'all knw dat feeling.

So Vals day is tomorrow...and in as much as I normally dnt do anything, I usually am in good or high spirits. But I dnt feel dt way right nw at all...my mood is shitty n' it stinks bcos I shake it off and I tke it out whoever comes my way. I wish I enjoyed cooking, this will be a nice time to just cook to tke my mind off things or better yet, bake something. I'm looking 4ward to first wknd in March, its my girls b'day so we're converging in MD once again. But I promise to be of good behavior this time around, just have a good ol' time wiv friends.

This has to be the randomest post I've ever put up. I'm typing as it comes to mind. No pre-meditated topic or though out arrangement or watever. It feels gud to jst release n be free...maybe now my mood won't be so shitty anymre...I hope so. Anyways, I hope y'all have a wonderful Valentine's day filled with lots of genuine love from all those who mean alot to you...family, friends and loved ones even ur pets too...hehehe!

From me to you my Blog fam. Happy Valentine's Day and thank you for being there!!!!
Love You!!!!!

Very Random

Hello Blogsville,

How's everyone doing? It's the weekend again *sigh* how time flies! And a lot sure does happen within one week. So the snow that did not get to my end last week, finally hit this week. For the first time since I've been in this country, we got a snow day in NY. Praise the Lord! NY is so stingy with snow days...lol.

Meanwhile, hmmm all those who want to steal my nephew; Iphy!!! If I catch u...lol. Thanks guys, so now when I gosh, ohhh and ahhh over him u guys understand why. :)

That Twitter is very addictive and encourages amebo tooo musshhh...lol...ahn ahn. Chei! As I'm trying to sign-off and be productive ppl jst kip tweeting stuff dat is attention grabbing. But its also very helpful sha o, I got word of an internship opportunity via Twitter the other day.

Ok, so the weirdest ish happened to me today on the train. I'm sitting jejely by myself o, and this petite oldwoman asks if she can tke my pishure? Initially, I thot she was asking me to tke a pic of her; I was so shocked I ddn't knw wat to do...but everybody around was smiling so I felt bad saying no. My people na so I sit down the woman dey snap me photo ooo...talk say na her hobby to jst capture interesting and beautiful faces and moments...wonderfulous! Mke dem no tke my face tke do juju ooo, all these weird oyinbo people....lol

Yeah...yeah...so Valentine's day (pronounced Valantine...lol) is here and once again I am not going to be getting any loving :( The day I'll get to spend all these special days n' all wiv My Luv ehn, hmmm blogger no go hear word. So, on that day I shall go to church, come home and resume my sleep as usual...once again LDR is a binsssh. For those with special someones or personal persons please in as much as you shdn't wait for Val's day before you express your love, please ensure to still show ur special one some love. If u wanna do it big, do it BIG...if u wanna do it small, do it small...my own be say no go thief oo but dnt be stingy either abeg u. Nothing sucks more than really cheap, randomly selected presents. Take time to add a personal touch...and ermm pls bring the interesting stories back to B'ville ooo.

I got good news today, and I'm hoping it bears fruit; when I have concrete details I'll share.

I was gonna do a list of random things, but I've 4gotten all of it plus am sleepy...zzzzz

Talk to you guys soon,

Meet My Snookums!!!

Hello Blogsville,

How's the weekend coming along? It's
almost over anyway, and am left wondering what in heaven's name I did with my time. Thanks for the warm welcome back y'all, greatly appreciated. Everyday something happens or a discussion takes place, and I tell myself I'm gonna blog about it; but its either I forget or something sha happens. But today na today, I must to blog, therefore however random and scatter scatter this post is, accept am lyk dat, sho gbo?lol

I used to think it was only market women and 'ashanas' that put money in their bras, apparently not. Some regular, everyday looking chic comes to the bank to make a deposit for her Momsie...she hands me the deposit slip and am waiting for the cash...and to my uttermost surprise she dips her hand into her bra and pulls out the cash...waaaat??? In this day n' age of purse, wallet, trouser pocket, even hand sef na e person dey put money for inside bra! Wonderfulous wonders! The way I looked at the money b4 picking it ehn, the babe sef go fear naa...ahn ahn. Thank goodness for hand sanitizers.

Everybody seems to be finding business opportunities to bring in extra cash, me too I need to find a lucrative business o. Meanwhile, I just missed out on an opportunity to make small extra cash...bringing weave-on to sell to the 9ja chics at my school. I used Xpression-Rose Deep to fix n' braid my hair n' they all luv it and were asking if I brought any. I was too busy soaking up all the good loving from My Luv to remember anything else...lol

Speaking of My Luv, I've been missing him o; but u know what I dnt like? (Am sure my fellow LDR participants can relate) U know when u're jst missing someone and then u jst wanna call them up n' hear their voice...u now dial their number all excited and ish, only for the person not to pick...chei!!!! The thing is painful man and sometimes vexing...lol. The excitement then turns to burtness/vexation when dey finally pick...lol. PS: Still missing u luv.

These weather people can like to over exaggerate things sometimes sha o...If u see hw dey were shouting 'snowstorm' ehn, u go think say all the snow na for America e wan fall finish. I know it was pretty heavy in places like MD sha o, but in my side of NY not a single flurry insight. Those that are snowed in, una sorry oo...by force holiday...lol...enjoy it n mke the best out of it.

Finally finished reading Steve Harvey's, "Act like a Lady, think like a Man" and boy did I enjoy it. That book is a must read IMO. I'll save my review for a later post, but if u haven't read the book pls do. It'll reinforce somethings u already know, make understand certain things better and teach u new things too.

In my last post, I promised to put up a pic of my cutie nephew...here it is; PS: This pic will be taken off in a few days or hours...but enjoy. I love him to bits, and he just brings me joy. *sigh*
That's my snookums!!! Yup he sucks his left hand just like I did...lol...and dat's him in my suitcase, helping me pack/unpack...lol...muahz! He turns ONE this month.

Aiight guys, enjoy whats left of your weekend. Stay positive, and be kind to everyone, u never know who may come ur way.

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!

...Back 4rm Naija...!!!

Hello Blogsville,

I'm baaaack!!!! How's everyone doing? What did I miss? Been trying to catch up on you guys blogs, and I gotta say it hasn't been easy. One month is a pretty long time to be away from you guys, and I honestly doubt that I can read all the posts I missed :(.

There's so much to tell you about, I definitely can't do it in one post cos the post will be too long, my fingers will hurt and I knw some of us dnt read long posts so y bother...lol.

My trip to Naij was fun, interesting, enlightening, and drama filled; it started off with a glitch tho'. My flight from NY to ATL got delayed by about 1h 30mins and so we missed our connecting flight from ATL to Naij. Initially I was mad, but then I was like, "God knws why He lets certain things happen..." That stupid Delta Airline of a company, after delaying my flight, all they could do was provide $50 accomodation vouchers. We the passengers now had to pay the difference at the hotel, $56.50 plus another $23 to extend my checking out time...mscheww...I was so pissed, I mean it wasn't my fault the flight got delayed why shd I be paying...nonsense and ingredient.

Amid the horrible things that occur in Naij, you can't help but love the country sha. Where else do u arrive at the airport and people are welcoming you lyk say u be celeb of some of sort...lol. "Ah Omo London, Omo Americana...welcome o!" U walk out the terminal, and ppl are starring, smiling, waving...I luv it! The heat envelopes u, the smell of BO arrests ur nostrils, u try to change some money so u have cash n the mallam tries to be smart thinking u won't count...lol...yup am home!!!

I finally got to see my nephew...and the boy has stolen my heart! When my Mom returned and kept talkn bout him, I was like ahn ahn ki lo de? Nw I understnd...this boy is jst a happy child in every sense of the word. U knw hw babies jst cry and u spend so much time tryna figure out wat d problem is...dis dude is d opposite. Forever smiling, dancing and jst being happy. I miss him soo much! U won't understand until I put up a pic. (Dnt hve my pics on this lappy so bear wiv me...nxt post i'll put it up).

This trip was really important to me cos it gave The Boyfie and I the opportunity to bond even mre, and understnd each other better, and I got to see things I liked and things I didn't like. Cos u knw wiv LDR's u miss out on the lil'things...lyk seeing someone's facial expression when they say certain things, making decisions/plans together, arguing face to face, making up face to face, jst enjoying each others company. Its funny how he reads me like book...lol...he senses when something's not right, and doesn't let it slide...makes sure we sort it out b4 its too late.

My family ehn...lol...na wa. "Ehen, everything The Boyfie, The Boyfie...we want to knw who he is..." This Uncle and that Uncle wants to knw The Boyfie, wat does he do? whr did he go to sch? Hpe he wasn't a cultist? (lol...hw I wan knw dem dey write am for head?) Hpe he's frm a peaceful family? You are in America, he is in Nigeria and you trust him that he's not playing games with you? Wat are his intentions? The whole thing tire me o...ppl of blogsville is dis hw ur fam interrogates the guy u're dating? lol... I ain't mad at them tho', I knw its all love, and they r just looking out for me, and want wats best for me so no wahala. I'm also glad that My Luv understands that its all love...lol.

Meanwhile on my way back, I almost missed my flight because My Luv and I were over lurluxing n' feeling lyk ppl on honeymoon.... story for another day.

School has started and am trying to sort some stuff out with my job...and oh well make we dey look. God dey.

Neways, am back guys...and I missed y'all much!

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!

...My 2009 Report Card

Hello Blogsville,

How's everyone doing? I'm guessing we are all looking forward to the New Year and all that it holds for us. As the year draws to an end, some of us make resolutions while some don't bother knowing fully well that the chances of seeing that resolution to the end are slim. I personally do make resolutions, but prefer to call them goals. These goals help to keep me focused and working towards a particular target, but we all know that life has a way of surprising one with twists and turns, that may sometimes require said goals to be re-evaluated. Nevertheless, before setting goals for the upcoming year, let me review 2009. "TAKING STOCK OF 2009":
MY FAITH
My walk with God this year can best be described as me climbing a hill, and then coming back down the hill and just hanging mid-point;neither going down nor up.*sigh* I started the year being fully aware of the fact that I could no longer depend on the prayers of my Mom, family members and loved ones to get me thru...that I could no longer jst go through the motion, I needed to have a relationship with my creator, with God my Father. Everything started off well, as much as possible I made sure to attend service, and be in His presence. And slowly I began to crave Him more and more, to include Him and consult Him in every aspect of my life and regardless of whether things turned out the way I wanted or not, I was glad to have Him in my life. Long story short, few months ago I started coming down the hill, I stopped climbing. I haven't exactly hit rock bottom, but for some reason I'm not making as good an effort as I can to start climbing again. So lately, I've been praying for motivation and for the good Lord to order my steps, and help me find my way back home where I belong.
SCHOOL/CAREER
My grades came in yesterday, and based on the outcome I honestly believe that it is God's way of telling me that even though I feel like I'm so faraway from Him, He's never faraway from me, and will never leave me nor forsake me. Initially I feared that my grades were gonna be thumbs down, but they ended up being good, my best semester GPA till date, and my overall GPA saw a raise as well. Its not by my power or by my might, but by God's overwhelming grace. Career wise, I'm now certain that Advertising is what I want to do, and am gonna try to be the best I can be.
FAMILY
Hmmm...this year has been a real challenging one for my family. An interesting, but challenging event definitely rocked our foundation, and still is but we are all picking up the pieces and moving on. Because life never pauses, it keeps going and we do too. Regardless, the members of my family that I love n' care about are doing great. Sis n' her hubby n' their kids r fine, Aunties n' Uncles are all doing well...and My Mom is being strong, and doing just fine. Me? Well, I hve to be strong for her and the others so I'm fine. Thank God no deaths this year...we are immensely grateful.
RELATIONSHIP
When people ask about the status of my relationship, I dnt reply with "Oh I'm in love" I simply say "I am HAPPY". Because being happy helps to keep the love alive, and makes me look forward to each day, and spending more time with him. If u read A Kiss to Remember then you know that our story is an interesting one.(I know I never finished it, myt do it in 2010...lol) A year ago I had to mke a tough decision, but am glad I did. No head-aches over irrelevant issues, no tears...we had our little tiffs, but we got through them. My Luv has been a good man to me, and I am happy to have him in my life.
FRIENDSHIPS
My girls!!! My beloved duo...Miss B and Miss N...the two people who complete my sentences, and pick-up my thoughts before I even put them down...lol. We know and understand each other so well its hilaxx. We know to back-off during each others diva moments, to give out honest opinions without sugar-coating, to support each other on bad days n' gud days. When I go into MIA mode and I dnt call or return their calls for days they dnt get mad dey understand. Everyone is gud for smething...lol...Miss B for moral advice, Miss N is a girls girl, issues wiv guys n' dating and I am gud for relationship/what do I do advice...lol. When am in their company, am soooo me...loud, quiet, hyper, constantly dancing and laughing. Cnt wait to see y'all...luff uuu.
FINANCES
Thank God for a steady source of income...my job. I didn't save as much as I could have this year at all. I just hope when I start interning without pay, I dnt suffer for it. There was always something to do or help someone take care off. As for my personal spending habits, it was pretty much under control and I was doing ok. But after Christmas shopping, and contributing towards my 9ja ticket, I have a CC bill to tke cre off when I return. I hope I dnt get fired anytime soon o, if not hmmm...lol. (I can see Scribbles smiling in a corner or on twitterville...lol.) But, once that is cleared up I hope to do better @ saving up in 2010.
BAD HABITS
Two things that I would love to work on in 2010 are my eleventh hour approach to things, and my anger. I find it so hard to get things done ahead of time, I prefer to be right on time. I try to get a paper done early and I find it so hard, but when the dead-line is close I have this adrenaline rush that propels me to get it done...why? i dnt knw. And then there's my anger. I dnt lash out or get verbal...I jst huff n' puff, keep a straight angry face, and then keep quiet or reply qstns with one word snippy answers...lol. The problem is snapping out of that mood; cos after being mad for a while even when I'm no longer mad, it takes a while to snap out of it..lol...weird I knw but dts me. So yeah, those are habits I'd def luv to kick in 2010. :) Also, I am going to work on keeping in touch; I suck at it.
All in all, I honestly cannot say I had a bad year becos I did not. Challenging? Yes. I grew alot as an individual, and I have to say Blogsville helped in my growth. I say so because I had to opportunity to experience life from a different perspective through your words and your stories. This year, I learned to love and accept myself flaws and all becos that's what makes me, ME. I learned that being in love doesn't feel like someone is sucking the life out of you, and that in as much as relationships require work, it requires TEAM-WORK and not a one-sided effort, learned to try new stuff like red-lipstick thanks to Zena's Sprawlings...and a whole bunch of other stuff (will do a post later jo).
I am grateful to God for His blessings, and guidance all through the year. And I pray for that 2010 will be a year of greater testimonies in all our lives. See you in 2010 my dear famille, hopefully if My Luv lets me out of his sight for a few mins, I'll update you guys on my trip, but if he doesn't...then see y'all in Feb. Muahz!!! Muahz!!! Muahz!!!
PS: For those in 9ja send me an e-mail if u wanna hook-up.
Talk to you soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!
