I Was 800ft in the air...

Hi Me Luvlies,
TGIF again!!! By this time last week, I was in Baltimore, Maryland having a fabulous weekend with the girls. We kicked off with partying @Lux Lounge on Friday, where Bobby Valentino just happened to be in the building. We couldn't get close enough to take pictures with him, but I'll tell you this...he looks just as good in person and his lips...hmmm...*fans self to calm down* We somehow bumped into Tony Rock (Chris Rock's brother) on the dance floor, and he was nice enough to let us take a picture with him. On Saturday we went to Six Flags, and seeing as I don't have the liver for roller-coasters, I jejely went to the WaterPark section and enjoyed the water rides...and even those can be scary o! And finally, on Sunday we went to the beach to chill...and to para-sail.
You should have seen the look of fear on my friend's face when we got on the boat...she looked like she wanted her Mommy...lol. We went 800feet high...and the view from up there is just humbling! We had a bonding/emotional moment up in the air...and spent a few mins in silence just savoring the moment. *sigh*

Back to reality, school begins next week and I am looking forward to it. Something to keep me busy, and on my toes again, because it seems I became lazy over the summer and I need to shake that off before its too late. :)

So you guys know my major is Advertising & Public Relations...and I've never mentioned this before but I've been kinda considering going into PR in the Nigerian industry; and I think I might just have gotten the opportunity to test the waters through an up and coming Nigerian artiste. It is all about networking, because its one thing to have a great product or brand, but you need people to make things happen. So I need to extensively expand my network of people, and begin building relationships in the industry. I'm not even gonna lie, I'll be needing as much help as I can get so if/when I come knocking on your doors for help please help a sister out!

Have you ever felt "checked out" before...you know when you are physically there but not mentally, and emotionally present in something anymore and you just can't explain why? I had that feeling for a couple of days...like everything was just bleh. Even my tone of voice was hollow. No excitement, no emotions...nothing. Ok am sure this isn't making sense...neways I'm trying to check myself back in o cos I dnt like being "checked out". Whatever that means...

I need a good pair of boots for the fall/winter. Good leather or really good faux leather boots. My problem with boots is the calves; my poor skinny legs can't fill the huge boots, even when I wear them with skinny jeans...there's still space *sigh* I want boots!!!!

Am I the only person who gets excited when they take their weave out? I'm always so happy to see my hair. And rather than straighten the hair immediately, I just let it air dry after washing/retouching and wear it as 'shuku' for a while (about a week or two). *runs hand thru hair wiv a smile* #dontjudgeme I missed my hair jorr...lol

So yeah the other day at the club, I'm sitting down sipping on my amaretto sour and whining on the stool, having a good time with my friends, and this guy who had asked me to dance earlier, but I declined, was dancing with another girl next to me. Wats the problem u ask? Well as this dude was dancing (more like just standing and collecting grind) he was using his other hand to try and hold me, and still get my attention! Meanwhile the girl he was dancing with was working hard, putting her back into it not knowing that the yeye boy was not focused on her hardwork...tsk tsk. Men ehn! smdh! I had pursue him away before the girl go talk say na me wan thief her man...I no fit for akata girls and their wahala... because when those girls vex ehn, dem dey madt!!!!

In other news, Gidilounge now has a radio station! I was listening to it while I was @ work the other day, and I was just hearing new new jamz that had me partying in my cubicle. If u haven't been on there...u definitely should check it out!

Am I the only one who has noticed that this year is going by FAST! Yes yes I know some days drag on...but guys...it's Aug 21st already like play, like joke!

My blog anniversary is September 1st! My blog will be TWO years old! Can't believe for two years now, I've been sharing and rambling with you all *sniff sniff* My 100th post is about 3 or 4 posts away too... How should I celebrate ooo?

Aight it's 3.18am and I haven't slept! Meanwhile I have to be at my cousins birthday party later today. They are twins and they turn TWO today...very lovely girls!

Have a great weekend ahead my luvlies! Thanks for stopping by!

Talk to you soon,

Random Update

Hi B'ville,

For a second, I almost typed 'hi tweeps'...lol...Twitter is technological crack...no jokes! It gets you high, gets you addicted...and then gets you hungover, but you still keep coming back for more *sigh*

Hope y'all had a peaceful and somewhat productive weekend? Mine was, and I'm still trying to be productive but I've been itching to blog and jst cldn't avoid it anymre...so hear I am, typing up a random post for your reading pleasure :)

The response to my Long Distance Relationship 101 post was wow! 22 comments, the highest this blog has ever received. I wasn't sure how u guys were gonna receive the post, but apparently you all loved it, and found it very informational and supportive of your own thots on LDRs. I am grateful to everyone that read, and left a comment. I plan on doing a Part Deux II...this time focusing more on the emotional, social and trivial but important issues. Again, I'm no expert just writing from my 4yrs and counting of personal LDR experience. If you have any qstns or suggestions e-mail me: MsUndercover7@yahoo.com

I'm still waiting on a response from two agencies for a summer internship...waiting isn't fun at all. I've put it all in His hands, because I have no power of my own. #Pray for me o.

I'm worried. Supposed to graduate in Dec. but if I can't complete my foreign language requirement, I'm gonna have to stay one more semester and graduate in May '11. Ah! How many years will someone stay in school for? I want to be out in Dec, so I can start my Masters in Sept '11. I'm tired of when people call and they say 'ah u still haven't finished?" For crying out loud, is it play I'm playing here? If I don't get out by Dec., I dnt knw if I'll want to go home to Naij in Dec. for Christmas, cos I cnt stand the qstns. (My Luv dsn't knw this...he's not going to be happy if he sees this)

Speaking of My Luv, he seems to be on a mission. His mission is to drown me in his love...I'm constantly on cloud 9. I don't know what tomorrow has in-store for me or anyone else, people are here today, gone tomorrow. And then we wish we had said this, done this or could make amends. I do not want to wish anything tomorrow, so instead of putting up a front and playing silly games... this is me appreciating you my darling today. For being you, for being there. Thank you.

There was a Timaya and Bracket concert in NY on saturday, and I wanted to go. But thanks to my Biology quiz and a whole lot of school work, I skipped it. I heard it wasn't worth it o, that Timaya was drunk before he even got on stage...lol...gotta luv him still. Also that Bracket was "mumbling"; I guess he had a Jessica Simpson moment. Its one thing to forget the lyrics to someone else's song, but your own song? That's funny. In other entertainment news, according to our dear @BankyW via Twitter, his people are working on a him coming to NY this summer. Please, please, please if you are on Twitter or you know Banky personally, or someone who knows someone who knows him, please tell him to make it happen!!! That is one concert I won't miss at all.

I'm sure you guys have all seen the pics from Dagrin's accident, pls dnt forget to put him in your prayers. We wish him speedy recovery.

...Aiight I think that's about it for now. Excuse the randomness, I'm sleepy but trying to stay up and study.

Have a blessed week guys!

Talk to you soon,

Have you seen my passion?

Hi Guys,

How's everyone doing? Its the weekend again! Its funny how some of us get so excited its the weekend, like we have huge plans when in reality...we don't...lol. It jst feels good to be able to sleep in late, have breakfast in bed (tho u have to get up to put it together), listen to Vera's show, and generally just do you. So yeah, I am glad its the weekend.

In addition to it being weekend, I am on Spring Break so yay me! I sometimes wonder where my adventurous and fun side went to. My whole college life I have never done anything fun and exciting with my breaks; spring break, winter break, watever break...*sigh* nothing! People go to Miami, Mexico, Puerto Rico, London, Paris...my behind stays indoors. The annoying part is I do love to go out (for the most part), but I seem to have surrounded myself with boring people. I love my friends, dnt get me wrong, but I think I need to make more out-going (not necessarily wild sha o) and adventurous friends.

I wanna go on a road trip! To anywhere, Miami ain't a bad idea. My friends wanted to do a roadtrip to Canada but that plan never solidified cos of scheduling issues. London nko...no money. *sigh* Even exploring some really cool spots in NYC won't be a bad idea...I need me some oyinbo, and ching- chong friends ASAP. They are open to trying out things and dnt have drama...lol.

In other news, everyone seems to be getting married left, right and centre. I can't even begin to count how many babes from my set have gotten and are getting married...the thing tire me o. Was talking about it with friends the other day and I personally have nothing against it. When I see pics up on FB or the like I usually say Congrats and wish them well, bcos to me I feel that's all we can do as friends, wish them well. Its ok if some of us think its too early and we haven't gotten both feet strong enough on the ground to uphold a family and the responsibilities both financial and emotional, but if a friend (someone u knw) has decided they are ready to tke the plunge, then so be it. My friend disagrees...lol...she said she can't bring herself to drop congratulatory comments. The part that cracks me up, is when ppl leave comments but dnt knw how to hide the skepticism/surprise....I mean just say congrats and put full stop, not "Babe u r getting married? ehen na wa oo. Congrats" or "Congratulations oooo" or " Are you for real? I wish you well sha"....as in which one is the ooooooo and sha inside?lol.

It seems like everyone is finding their passion or calling, and I can't help but wonder, where is mine? People have photography, make-up artist, writer, cooking/baking and other interesting things...I have nothing, or at least that's how I feel :(. I know someone will say when you where younger what did you want to be? I used to say a Lawyer cos I talked ALOT and my nick-name was 'radio without wire", meaning I cld go on on. But I always wanted to be an actress (still do), but everytime I said it ppl looked at me like yeah right u jst dnt wanna work, keep living in fantasyland...so I let that dream go after taking two acting classes in college.

I just want to find something I'm passionate about...I know its a wonderful feeling doing something you love, not necessarily as a full-time job, but just the realization that this is part of what you were put on earth to do and you enjoy it. I want that feeling. *sigh* So my dear blogville famille...share with a sister, have you found your passion or calling? What is it? And how does it feel?

Have a fabulous weekend guys...and if anyone is in NYC and wants to just hang-out holla @ me.

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!!!

I'm TORN....!!!

Hello Blogsville,

How's everyone doing? Hope great! I am doing gud @ this end. Today is the last day of classes for me, and my last final is next week wednesday, so I'm glad the semester is coming to an end. I can now begin to look forward to happy days, fun, and more fun.

Ok guys, I just heard and read an article about the whole "Beyonce selling her soul to the devil" issue, and I don't even know what to say guys. I've been a Beyonce fan for a long-time now,(I knw, I knw there alot of you who cnt stand her and that's ok). I've always said I want to attend one of her concerts becos I know I'd be getting my monies worth, becos the girl performs and delivers. But after reading the article, I have to say I'm totally torn.

I mean, I don't know if to believe and what to believe. I always say there's no smoke without fire...therefore there must be some iota of truth somewhere in this fire. Out of all the symbolic connections that the articles made or pointed out, the one that stood out for me, was the picture of her with the motorcycle head-light, and the goat-head symbol. (Look it up here http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=604) As in, I dnt even know what to say. How does goat-head connect to the whole Sasha Fierce theme? That one just had me giving my dear B the side eye/questioning eye.

What is this world turning into, the end-times are really here. And I spooks me at times, just to think about it. Times when it'll be so hard to decipher good from evil, becos its not the everyday evil that we are accustomed to, its more than that. Warfares that we can't see being fought in the spiritual realm. *sigh* Aiight enuff of this, I ddn't mean to go all spiritual on y'all. Its jst that everytime I listen to all her songs there's gonna be that lil' voice in my head wondering, questioning and trying to make sense of it all.

On a lighter note, my very good friend just surprised her boyfie in 9ja. Told him she wasn't coming home for Christmas and all dat, only to just show up! It was so hard for all of us, trying to keep everything under wraps. But it was all worth it in the end. I love surprises, good surprises o, not bad ones...lol. Some ppl are not too fond of surprises...so which do you prefer? To be surprised or not?, that my darlings is the question.

I have two group presentations today guys, wish me luck!

PS: Big shout out to Juiceegal for always reading my blog!!! And for coming back...u cnt go anywhere again, u are now officially on Blogsville arrest!

Have a fabulous day guys, and be the best @ whatever it is u do today!

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!

Gist Unlimited: While I was away...

Hello Blogsville,

It seems like forever since I last put up a post! I can see that nobody milzed me, its all good.
How's everybody doing? Hope great! My life has been crazy these past few weeks, I cnt even begin to explain. The events that have occurred ehn, if I tell u guys, una go think say na 9ja home video, but God dey sha.

So, Momsie was in 9ja for a month on vacay but now she's back. I'm glad she's back, but that means I have to return her motor and return to my leggedz-benz/bus/train movement...*sigh* e go better. School has been a tad-bit overwhelming o! From mid-terms, to group projects, individual projects, search for internships, trying to attend networking events, sorting out classes for next semester...and then trying to stay above and in control of it all. Who talk say multi-tasking easy...omo e hard o! Speaking of which guess who was in my PR Writing class last week?...come on, u can do better than that. Ok, fine I'll tell you....General Colin Powell himself live and direct!!!! You think am lying? Fine, I'll put pics up my next post (too lazy to upload it frm my phone).

And then to have to keep explaining to family members that Advertising & PR is not a waste of time, and that I actually am enjoying the program. Its hard to shake-off that stereotypical view that my beloved 9ja folks have towards majors/degrees that dnt come with a title or are not as recognized like awon Drs, Engrs, Accountants and the likes. E don tire me. My Mom has suggested that I shd go home (9ja) for either Christmas or New-Years; the usual me would be excited and counting down the days, and looking 4ward to time with family and My Luv. But right now I dnt feel that way.

I'm thinking maybe I shd hold-off till next Christmas when I would have graduated (God willing) and maybe gotten a job cos then that would stop all the questions of...when are you graduating? why is it taking this long? What are you studying? Advertising ke? What can you do with that? Why didn't you read Medicine like your sister? Or Nursing like your Mom? Or kpata kpata Bus. Admin sef? Dnt you want to make money?... And the way they twist their nose and roll their eyes sef...worse pass the questioning. I dnt know o jare...they say God's time is the best, and His ways are not our ways; I try to hold on to that, but mehn they mke it hard sometimes. Well make we dey look...will let y'all know what I decide.

Its interesting how when you're growing up, as a kid you think your family is like the perfect picture. Mom and Dad are in love and happy, and as kids our needs are provided and we are shown so much love. And then as you get old enough to understand and notice certain things, the imperfections begin to become obvious. But still yet due to the fact that no one is perfect, we accept these imperfections, and make the best out of situations. In my case, the imperfections don pass be careful. It has turned a once supposedly tightly knit family (extended included) into what I dnt even know. You hear of marriages hitting the rocks and you think naaah, not this fam....cos we ride or die. Ride or die ko...lol. Like I said, the events can be written into a movie script or a book gan sef. Well, God dey.

People of blogsville, I still dey find internship o. If u here about any in the NYC area, let me know oo. In general sha, life is good. I honestly can't complain...becos na who dey alive dey hustle...and am alive. My Luv and I are doing well. He met Momsie while she was in 9ja, and has used his charm on her already...lol. I can be a handful, and still yet he takes it all calmly and handles my mood swings well (lol...except when I go MIA on him...sorry babie)...he's good to me...has a good head on his shoulders and continues to make me happy. I say thank you Lord, for indeed I am blessed.

Biko does anyone know the whereabouts of Kemberly??? This her under construction status don too tay o...hpe u're gud dear. And can someone pls tell ZENA to update ASAP!!! She has lots of stories to tell...trust me...u wanna hear the juicy details...no joke.

Aiight guys...I think I've made up enuff for the period I was MIA. Thanks for stopping by!
Love y'all bunches!!! Have a great day.

Talk to you soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!

I'm 50...............................................................in four posts, so ask away!!!

Hello Blogsville,

Wa'gwan my youth?! How has everybody been, and hope ur week has gotten off to a great start?

Well, mine has been ok so far. Church was great as usual...KINDNESS was the topic. And not kindness in the form of sentiments, pity, or thoughts; but in the form of ACTION. A perfect example wld be Nice Anon helping the old-man she saw on the way side (go n' read her recent post). Pastor said, its one thing to see someone in need and say eyaah, I feel bad for them. Feeling bad isn't an act of kindness, it might make us feel better or less guilty, but it is not action. He said when Jesus talked about kindness, he ddn't talk about emotion...he followed it up with action...doing something. 1 John 3:17-18...."Suppose someone has enough to live and sees a brother or sister in need, but does not help. Then God's love is not living in that person. My children, we should love people not only with words and talk, but by our actions and true caring." Nuff said!

Normally, u hear ppl say they are not looking forward to school getting back in session, but ur beloved UnderCover/Miss Enigma (cnt decide on which one I like still...lol) is saying the opposite. I'm looking forward to school resuming next Monday! Why? Cos finally, I have a major that is me (story for another day), am looking forward to learning, am excited to see what my classes/Profs have in-store for us students, and actually looking forward to studying for tests, taking down notes during class, and high-adrenaline rush I get when writing a paper. I did all this last semester and I had great reward at the end of the semester. And there's nothing like reaping the fruits of your labor, nicely garnished by the grace of God!

So in preparation for sch, I went supply shopping. In a past post,I tld u guys that I keep journals and had quite a few. Well, one thing that fuels my luv for journals, are note-books. Take a look at the ones I got today:

The solid black is my current journal, the one on the right I just got.

The big brown book is my current school folder/notebook...the lil'ones, I just got those. Cldn't decide between the brown and the red. I'm a sucker for brown, but am learning to try things out so I went ahead and got the red. I normally use the small ones to write my to-do-list and assignments, appointments and so on. Might send one to my sis cos she luvs stuff like this too! Some people luv shoes, I luv nice books and journals, and they just give me this unexplainable high :) weird I know...lol. And all four of them are designed by the same person.(crgibson.com).

I also found a Nigerian stylist while, I was buying hair in Harlem. I'm gonna go get my hair done on Wednesday; I hope it comes out nice o...if not the two of us go wear one trouser for that her store. Meanwhile I had already booked appt wiv my wash n' set hair-dresser...but I think this Naija lady will do a better job...make we dey look. I'll be back wiv pics on Wed. Fabulo-la I thot about u and ur experience wiv the ghetto store manager in Harlem...and I kept smiling all thru my waka in Harlem...lol.

Ehen! My people o, my 50th post is four posts away. As is the tradition in our community, you all are free to ask me ANY thing. Whatever it is you wanna know about me, besides my real name...lol...not ready to step out from the world of anonymity. But seriously, pls feel free to ask...dnt second guess, hesistate and wonder should I or shouldn't I? Let's make it a fun 50th biko! No question is too small, short or unimportant...lol. I know I dnt have an e-mail addy up, so pls send questions via comment box...If u want privacy, u can post ur comment as anonymous...To be honest am looking forward to hearing from u people o...mke una no fall my hand I take God beg una...dalu in advance.

Aight people...make I go find sleep wherever it maybe hiding.
Have a FAB week guys...be KIND, and remember whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well!

Talk to you guys soon,
xoxo,
Miss Enigma!

Unmerited Favor

Hello Blogsville...

As at this morning, the plan was to update you guys on how things were with the boyfriend and I; but through the course of the day, that has changed because "man proposes, God disposes."

I stayed up till 4am yday to work on an assignment that was due for my 12.30pm class, and then woke up 5hrs later to put finishing touches and prepare for school. I tried to get dressed in time to catch an early bus and get to school on time so I could print my work and all that, but as I looked at my clock I knew I wouldn't make it, but still, I continued to organize my stuff. Normally, I dnt switch bags for school, but because I was carrying a big text-book I needed to today. As, I was about putting my books and things into the bag, I noticed a bank envelope inside. I took it out to see if there was anything in it; lo and behold my people of blogsville, I found two crispy hundred dollar bills!

Fast forward. I have a math test in about 2hrs so I decide to go to the library to brush up before the test; but stopped to used the bathroom first. 2hrs later, am packing my property and about to head to class for the test, when suddenly I realize that my purse is no where to be found! Immediately it hits me, I left it in the bathroom 2hrs ago! So I rush back, mumbling to myself "Pls God, pls God..." I walk into the bathroom...but it was gone. My last hope was that maybe, just maybe someone was nice enough to drop it with the security guards at the library entrance. But wat are the chances of that happening? My purse held everything, credit cards, debit cards, licence, school ID, insurance card, family pics, and my money o! In this time of economic/ credit crunch, this no be time to lose money ooo!! I approached the security guard and asked her if any1 had dropped of a brown purse? She reached into her drawer and pulled out my purse! Everything was intact! Not even a dime was missing!

Its been a long day and all I want to do is catch elimination show of American Idol while nicely tucked underneath the covers...thats all am thinking about as I get off the bus and begin the challenge of climbing up this really steep hill. Bout 15mins later I am finally infront of my apartment when a tiny voice says check ur pocket to make sure ur bus-pass is there o! U guessed right, it wasn't. I had just bought the pass on my way to school...a whole $81 monthly pass, na e don disappear so like film trick. Oya, about turn! I started walking back down the hill to the bus-stop; I must to find am. And found it I did. And yes, I had to climb the freaking hill again!

...Yup blogsville, all this happened in one day. Some might say the stars lined up for me, or that I was just lucky. I disagree. It was all by His Grace...God's GRACE! Everyday we receive his grace in various aspects of our life. From waking up to finding my bus-pass its all by His grace. I mean whoever found that purse could have walked away with it, and done whatever they wanted to, but they didn't...

Although I am His child and thus entitled to blessings of the kingdom, I am not worthy. I focus so much on my so called busy life, that I forget who gave me life. Constantly on the go trying to meet dead-lines and honor appointments and handle schedules... but never taking time to schedule an appointment with my Father. I try not to turn people down, but am always post-poning or cancelling my date with Him. But like a patient lover He perseveres. Never judging or giving up on me, even when I give up on myself. A man with interests would have lost interest in me by now, but unlike man He does not lie...so when He says that I am the apple of His eyes, He means it.

I am not worthy, but still yet He envelopes me in His love, and humbles me with HIS GRACE- unmerited favor from God.
